I used to see TRAINS running through scenery but since I have been cleaning up my scenery areas I am kinda leaning the other way now.
I have scenery with trains and boats running and sailing through it. Even a few aircraft flying through it.
It depends on how I feel at the time. Really, not a wise a$$ remark. It just depends on my mood and what I'm working on or just running trains.
Doug.... I had a 'plywood prairie' for a long time. I would say yes. Of course once you plant just 1 tree...or put one building on that 'plywood prairie' it is the start of and "EMPIRE" !!!
Not much of anything. Today it's a large bunch of dc electrical supplies. I was wiring my electric bicycle and two trailers and sorting stuff to dispose off or take to retailer.
Well, this one has me thinking. What I see is for sure not what other people see. I see ls lots to do. Things to add, things to change, and things to re do. I could type a lot more but I'll stop until I think it through some more........
I see a lot of things that I was saving for the "days after I retire" that are not getting done. I just told the wife that I need to realize that "today" is the day to get started on all those "someday" projects that I have been putting off, then I go off and start working on something else Ralph
nothing to see on mine except complete tear down . i just was not happy with it. so now im thinking modules for around the walls 11 foot x 11 foot with an lift out section 2 foot wide all the way around. ever sense that rock came trough my window and i had to tear out my layout that i liked it just was not the same after that........thinking about this one . its 6 foot x 8 foot but ill extend it to 11x11...
I see a table that I set up for my wife when she got a stay at home job that was supposed to be temporary… but she still works from home one day a week so the desk is still there and the layout is still on paper.
Not really....lol. I do however see scenery being just as...if not more important then trains. Trains go where the tracks go. You cant really change that fact. Scenery on the other hand is constantly changing...hopefully for the better. I do think good scenery makes the trains look even better.
"Looking at YOUR layout...what do you REALLY see ?" An interesting question George, but I think there should have been one more selection labeled "Other" You may ask why? Some days I see a miniature representation of a branch line railroad where times seem to be good. Other days I see N scale model trains on a scenic Hollow Core Door layout.
Rich.... I did put in the answer... NOTHING...unless I turn the lights on in the trainroom ! When I first built THERR RV the daunting task of doing scenery was something I was not looking forwards to ! After I got trains running...scenery seemed like the next logical step. Still overwhelming but a necessity in my mind. Now 10 years later and I can actually smile when I go in and 'turn the lights on in the trainroom' now. Trains...running through scenery or scenery with trains running through it ??
Not long ago my sister in law and her 'significant other' came by. I took them out to THERR RV. Their first words where about the 'scenery' and then "Oh look...there are trains running around" .
You know what ? I just went out to THE RV for about an hour and was doing some cleanup. Tools...paint...glues...parts...etc.. I was sitting there contemplating my own question. I watched my trains running. I checked out my scenery. I think we all strive for that perfect ratio of trains to scenery where we can't decide which we like better...lol. Sounds like Rich_S. has found it. I know I have !!! BUT...In the end..it's ALL ABOUT THE TRAINS !! .
I do have all kinds of structures on my layout and some ballast but I had to pick "A"...er..."1" Doug
Hey cheater. No adding cuties to get our attention. The layout looks fun to run. I have a modular set up and am not sure how to answer the question. There is a bit of scenery so I guess that's it. I see trains first then the surroundings.
