Here's one that's 20 miles away. Wish I could get there for a ride. https://www.msn.com/en-us/video/tra...eum-in-ashwaubenon/vi-AAZAEc1?category=foryou
Sure looks like fun! No ride-able full size trains in my area, but we do have the Roosevelt Park (Minot, ND) "Magic City Express", a miniature, ride-on train.
Further away, but there's also the Mid-Continent Railway Museum at North Freedom, WI https://www.midcontinent.org/ I was last there in 1987 when I took this. A terrible flood wrecked the museum site in 2018, but they've been able to pick up the pieces and are back in operation. They're trying to get 4-6-0 C&NW 1385 running again following a flue expiration and other needed work.
I would go there each time I had a locomotive issue in Green Bay on the WC. It was simple to get to, decent parking and some interesting artifacts. Whats stopping you ?
I didn't know of that one. It is actually half the distance. I would go thru Freedom on the way to Forest County or Green Bay and beyond. What's stopping me is places that enforce rules.
The Dennison Railroad Museum here in Ohio does a really fun 'Polar Express' ride around the holidays. Great fun for kids, but I went with my then 40-something gf a couple of years ago and we loved it. Fun for big kids, too https://dennisondepot.org/polar-express/
