Good afternoon from sunny and hot Northeast Ohio! Just got back from my Cardiac Rehab session, they jumped up the time and difficulty for all the excercises I am doing with the treadmill and bikes. This week, the Rock Island got some attention! Atlas PS 2003CF Covered Hopper kit, just added Kadee Couplers in place of the Accubreaks, painted with Scalecoat II MofW Gray Paint and lettered with Oddballs decals. The Rock Island rostered over 700 of these cars in Cement and Silica Sand service. Old McKeen ACF Boxcar kit, replaced the grabs with Tichy Metal grabs and the sill steps with A-line metal sills steps. Painted the car with Scalecoat II #2 Boxcar Red and Silver Paints, then lettered with Herald King Decals. This was a plain jane boxcar of the 70's, the Rock Island had 300 in general service. Last week I took my Athearn GP40-2's along with a bunch of DT&I Boxcars and covered hoppers to the club for a little run time. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski
Is it me? Or do the pics look like trains running in summer heat? Cool pics! @dti406, thank you for doing the rehab. I believe it will make you stronger overall. Plus, pics look great!
Great photos, everyone! Someone send Candy a clone of the guy on that 44 tonner - he'd make a good substitute for Oliver Hardy the Mover on her stairway model. He seems portly enough to play the part! Nice action shot.
Another great weekend of modeling photos. I finally got the KRL 38181 loaded, I made this car to be unloaded, only thing is, it might take as long to unload the model as it would the real one. All one has to do is push the pins out of the scratch built hold down rods, and lift the transformer off. But pushing those rods out aint gonna be all that easy, I used Moly lube to hold them in place, they are just small. Here it is in the cab tracks ready for an east bound to pick it up. And now headed east on an SP drag.
Outstanding model and load. One of those beasts always looks its best with a big heavy thing strapped to it.
Thanks for the likes everyone, and thanks for the comments Mike. That thing is longer than an auto rack.
Wandering through the yards. The TCC covered hopper is a common visitor. The Cats on flats are rare. The covered hopper is behind the SW7, UTAH RAILWAY 27.
Sales reps from Baldwin dropped by Leiperville Union Station with a couple of demonstration units hoping to convince the executives from the RK&M to purchase a few units.
Shark!!! (just don't yell that at the beach... ) That would look darn good in 1950s CN freight colors.
