Welcome back to the gateway to the weekend and coincidently from the gateway to the west. I hope you all had a good week and are ready for another weekend of modeling. Let's get started.

Friday: For me the weekend starts today, I'm in Collinsville Illinois for the St. Louis RPM meet which starts today. Mark and myself will be setting up the Athearn booth and talking a lot about trains. I'll sneak out of the booth occasionally to look at the models on display as well as pick up a freight car or two. The show ends at 5:00pm with more clinics and layout tours going into the night. I'll probably relax tonight after day one.

Saturday: Day two of the STL RPM meet. I should behave, however there are a lot of RR Historical societies and neat vendors here. I guess I'll wait and see. I've brought the HO Inglenook switching layout and will have guests switch out our newest cars with the latest run of Athearn Genesis GP40-2. It should be a fun weekend. After the show, we have to quickly pack up, load the SUV and head home as both of us will head home.

Sunday: Up again early as Ang and I will be meeting her dad in Danville at 7:00am. We are heading to Indy for a NASCAR race and meet and great with our fellow Horizon employees. Horizon Hobby sponsors Michael McDowell and the #34 Ford Mustang. I have never been to a NASCAR race so this will be all new to me. It will be fun seeing my fellow Horizonites at the race and of course, cheer on all the fine Fords. After that who knows, although there is a '61 Ford Falcon for sale outside of Indy I wouldn't mind looking at. We'll see.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know and if you happen to be in Collinsville Illinois, stop by the STL RPM and come stop at the Athearn booth and say hi. We'll return on Monday, the 1st of August and report at our progress from over the weekend. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Happy Friday all! Exciting weekend. In that Monday is August 1 and most college football teams begin fall camp. Without a doubt my favorite time of year is fall. College football is going strong and many model railroading activities take place as the summer and outdoor season winds down.

This weekend I intend on advancing the buildings I've got under way. My goal is to bring them to completion or to an advanced milestone so in the coming weeks or month I can move on to some electrical improvements, control panels, and a few track extensions.

    Have a great weekend all!!!

    Jim,
I am sure that you will be blown away by the NASCAR race. I attended one in Fort Worth a couple of years ago and all I can say is WOW! I like McDowell's #34 when in Love's paint scheme.

This weekend I shall continue to watch after my wife, the Dr's. are about ready to turn her loose and told her she could drive when "your husband says so." Thanks Doc !!!
Modeling this weekend will be to program, test run, and film my cab forward bash job. I put her on program track and got the headlight and the firebox to work correctly. Looookinggg gooood !

Well -- as of right now -- I am hoping to continue getting tracks laid on the (digital) San Luis and Rio Grande, also this weekend, a big focus is getting the existing parts put into JMRI and getting more car liveries done etc

Not much model wise. Saturday we will be having a family gathering up north. One won't be there. He had a heart attack 5 years ago. Bill I haven't seen since Steve's funeral. Nine of the ten others will be bringing wives. Jess and I are singletons. None of the kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Etc.
I have been enjoying the EAA Air Venture. Many awesome fly overs.

Wow! Lots of activities. I am almost finished with the diagramming for the Olds. I had to make it 2:1 to make it easier. (y) Some chores have gotten in the way this week. However, this weekend is to be spent mostly inside due to hot weather. Should get a lot done. All have a safe and fun weekend. :D

Right now I have a number of cars and trailers to decal, along with painting a U25B engine shell and boxcar.

Saturday will be at the club running trains and in the evening we have the Cleveland Bowling Association Banquet recognizing the bowlers who won the various tournaments this year along with the Hall of Fame inductees, and new officers will be sworn in.

Sunday, continue with modeling and decaling and doing the laundry.

    Good morning all,

This weekend I have several goals for the new section of the layout.

    1. Finish the linkage and wiring for that turnout at the west end of Carlin yard.
    2. Finish the hillside along of front edge where new fascia board has been installed.
    3. Ballast the tracks where the two new sections connect.
    4. Get a coat of primer on the fascia in the new area.

We'll see how far I get. Everyone enjoy the weekend whatever you are doing.

Installing more subroadbed on the upper level and some backdrop work down below. I would also like to start assembling the rolling mill so I can finalize the track arrangement going into and through the mill.

The rolling mill and EAF building is the largest industry on the layout, as the mill should be able to handle 12 cars and the EAF should be able to hold about 6. One crew can take a full train of gondolas and return with a full train after doing all of their work.

Not much will get done this weekend. I have my yearly tests I must take next week so it is study time.

We have some gardening planned if the weather holds. We need to rearrange the plants in the window boxes and there is weeding to be done.

I still have a bunch of rolling stock to tune up and I have a couple of new locos to test.

I'm going to try to complete my Walthers Hardwood Furniture Company kit today/tomorrow. So far this week, I've installed all the windows and doors. Gotta assemble the main building now.

This weekend will be focused on celebrating Sharon's birthday. She selected a hike in the Cascades, which will be all day Sunday. Today and tomorrow will see some time getting ready. A few locos are beginning to pile up on the "to-be-tested" shelf. That means I need to put a test track back together. Maybe I will find some time for that. Relatively hot weather for our corner of the republic. The garage heats up quick so I may not spend much time out there. We will see.

    Stay safe,

My weekend started today but I haven't been feeling 100 percent and was also unmotivated all morning. We've been watching our grand-dogs for a couple days so with three German Shepherds (us a puggle) in the house I started running the robot vacuum. I did a few other minor chores, did another round of naval jelly derusting on my milk can project, and then after our daughter went home (with her dogs) I took our two for a long walk.

Tomorrow, Saturday, the weather is supposed to be decent so my wife and I may finally get out for a paddle in our kayaks. We've been wanting to go since Spring but weather, or health, or general busyness conspired to prevent it.

Sunday is church, train club, and a Zoom board meeting for our Liberia mission.

Otherwise, I am again hoping to move the needle on my milk can project and, hopefully, something at least vaguely train related.

It’s Saturday from this side of the International Date Line in Japan. We had an errand to run in downtown Tokyo Friday, so I took the day off and we went around the Harajuku and Akasaka neighborhoods. The former has a couple of market streets that are mostly candy/confectionery shops so we had a good time.

Today and tomorrow I’ll start a bunch of odds and ends. I may not finish all of them as I there are a couple of odds and ends that I’m lacking. But I think I’ll get close.

-Install the decking I received this week on my bulkhead flat cars. I’m unable at my current skill level to make the plastic on the MTL bulkheads to look good, and those wood kits look too thick at n scale. So I bought the card stock ones that MTL just put out. They look good, just too shiny, so I’m going to have to dull them down.

-One more Metra bicycle car. I’m missing a decoder and a lighting kit, but I’ve got all the paint, decals, and passengers I need to get mostly done.

-Build flat car loads for 2x 89’ flat cars (the weathered ITTX set MTL put out recently). Galvanized steel beams out of some Plastruct.

-Start work on a string of Metra coaches on flat cars. Ive got some TTX decals and my last two flat cars on the way, but I’ve got five Kato bilevel shells left over from other projects, 3 flat cars on hand, and some styrene to start building a little.

I’ve seen two photos on the internet of Nippon Sharyo bi levels wrapped under tarps on top of a flat car without trucks from the factory getting delivered to Metra.

They aren’t my photos so I can’t post them I think. But if anyone is interested—>links below

Lastly-I try to avoid the computer on the weekend (get enough of that at work during the week) but I may try to print a few decals do a few advertisement wraps for Metra coaches. I’ve got duplicate road numbers from Kato and I thought that might be better than the renumber in job I did last year.

Still struggling with my disk/health issue. I did manage a very little work on an HOn30 gondola kit this week. Hoping to limp through that and to paint stage by Monday. Otherwise, no plans.
