Welcome back and welcome to August. Hard to believe that 2022 is now more than halfway over. Let's see how we did this weekend.

Friday: Day one of the STL RPM. It was good although attendance seamed down this year. I met a lot of talented modelers and enjoyed talking with them. I finally bought a Cannon and Company boxcar kit (B&M of course). That may be the subject of a future build thread.

Saturday: Day two of the show and unfortunately attendance was very low. I think a few folks decided to stay home this year. Still, a good show overall. I picked up some detail parts for my Proto Throttle and some cool working derails for the HO layout. We had the booth down and packed by 4:45pm and I was home by 8:00pm.

Sunday: Was fun, and for my first race, I was hooked. Honestly, I used to watch NASCAR back in the old days as I was a huge Bill Elliott fan but stopped watching it in 2001. A lot has changed but I really enjoyed it. Mike McDowell is a class act and he finished in the top 10. The last few laps were exciting, and I may do this again. No real modeling this day, just a fun day with the family.

So how about you? What did you accomplish? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Friday, August 5th to start the process all over again for a new month. Until then, have a great week, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

High Greens!

Good morning to Y'all,

Had a mixed bag - MRRing wise.

I finished the decaling on a pair of RS-3's for a friend. Lettered them for Lackawanna.

Did not get to the beet gons. Nor their couplers -- and that's OK.

I did however complete the trio of SP S-40-5 stock cars.
They are from Voltscooter. Excellent 3D printed models.

Happy Monday. The weekend was pretty busy. Actually did some office work on a project that has to go out late this afternoon. However, I worked on what I wanted, just didn't get as far as I wanted.
• Started hand painting the windows on the hotel kitbash that I got done last week. There are 144 windows in that sucker. I only got 24 done this weekend, but that pace should pick now. I'll even work on that here and there this week.
• Put the major walls of the American Brewery kit together. I like the building and am glad to finally be putting it together. But this project has "cured me" of ever wanting to do a large "acrylic based" project again. I'll stick with wood, styrene, and plaster. The acrylic is very unforgiving to having to make adjustments or modifications. The good news is the hard part is behind me now.
Have a great week and stay cool!

I had a great weekend, both personally and model railroading.

My wife is unbelievably progressing to the point of not using a walker or her cane. Still restricted to not bending or lifting but those will come. I have had to learn some new skills such as grocery shopping, washing/drying clothing and sheets, etc..

Here are some images of my EM-1 bash job. I am tired of touching up and tinkering so that I declare it complete :

I built the new bed frame. I have to say the mattress feels firmer and more comfortable without the old box spring. We did a little weeding of the front gardens and I had to do a heavy cleaning of the fountain pump. On Sunday we ran to Delaware to get gas. With my grocery store points I paid $3.91. We also ran to the PetSmart and Michael's.

I was planning to finishing tuning up the Tropicana reefers but before I did I decided to run the locomotives I planned to use. One of the locos kept stalling. I made sure the track was clean but since the other loco ran fine I had suspicions something else was wrong. I turned the loco over and found the bottom of the trucks soaked with lubricant. I took the shell off and found lubricant everywhere. I then removed the rea trucks and took apart the truck. The gears, axles, and case are soaked in oil. I tried my best to clean and dry everything. I was going to reassemble everything when I discovered I could not find my tube of grease. I thought I bought some when I bought the gear lubricant. That is what lead to the trip to Michael's. Since they did not have any and I could not find any online with a reasonable delivery time I will stop at my least favorite hobby shop on the way home from work. I am looking for suggestions on what to do with cleaning and lubricating the loco.

Good morning from sunny and warm Northeast Ohio. Just got back from Cardiac Rehab and it went well.

Over the weekend about all I did trainwise was decalling a couple of cars and they are still not done.

I ended up helping my wife set up her Zoom painting class rather than going to the club on Saturday then it was the Annual Bowling Awards Banquet for the Cleveland USBC.

Sunday, ended up taking Trip to Port Clinton to meet up with my wife’s sisters along with lunch.

Have an appointment Wednesday with the Orthopedic Surgeon for the annual check up on the hip replacement.

Is it me or do the weekends seem to be going by faster and faster?
Saturday morning, I opened up a 6 pack of LBF Coalporters that I picked up at the N Scale Convention. They were a "show special" because all 6 cars had loose parts showing in the boxes. I took a chance on them and in less than an hour, was able to get the loose parts either glued back in place or items snapped back in place. Turned out to be an even better deal than I thought it was to begin with. Then built some shelves for the wife and cut some parts or another display shelf under my layout.
Sunday, after lunch, finished assembly on the parts i cut for the display shelves. They just need some trim parts to look really finished now. Of course, the one at the other end of the layout needs those same trim parts as well. Once that was done, I started prepping a pair of 3d printed farm tractor for paint. By then it was time to ride with my son to one of his activities. He actually did good on the drive and very well in his activity.
All in all, a good but way too short weekend. Hope you all have a great week!

First of all, I am looking forward to seeing the B&M boxcar build. Second, outstanding pics! (y) The stock cars look real. Locos' coming along. Acrylic(?) hotel. I never knew. ;) I work in cardstock mostly, myself. :) The build looks cool. So far, the Olds four view diagram is done (at 2:1). Looks like we going to try casting. Material is in prep stage. Diagramming for two small weatherboard houses got started earlier today. I am trying tandem projects. All have a great week! :D

Happy Monday all, Great to hear of folks being on the mend with their health improving.

Full weekend here. Saturday my wife and I took her dad out for a nice seafood lunch. It was only about the 4th time we've eaten in a restaurant in the past 2-1/2 years. Got a few small things done on the layout in the new area.

Got the control rod and wiring for frog and control panel LED done on the last turnout.

TBWMA01Aug22d.jpg

Got the tracks painted in the area where connections were made between the two new sections. After cleaning did a lot of test running throughout the yard.

TBWMA01Aug22b.jpg

Got some profile board and fascia up at the end near the lift gate and finished building up the hillside along the edge.

TBWMA01Aug22a.jpg

And got a a finish coat of paint on the panel that goes under the shorter section and prepared the LED lighting panels that will go on this panel.

Weekend went largely as expected. Mostly busy prepping for Sharon's birthday. I did get a few minutes Saturday to start on a test track. Basically a modular base to be set on a shelf.
test track base.JPG

Sunday's birthday hike was not without its more entertaining moments. Sharon noted that "we may have over-hiked!" A bit over 7 miles beginning at about 4900' and reaching above 6900'. We are sea-level dwellers who have not kept up with our cardio. Pictures or it didn't happen? Here you go. Lake Ann from near Maple Pass.

We lived to tell the tale, at least.

We went shopping Friday and the kids went to the pool with my wife Saturday. Too hot to even go outside much Sunday. So I spent the whole weekend modeling…good times!

First I prepared and painted Metra 100. The decals arrived Monday, so I might try and add those over the course of the week after work. I’ll post some photos of that repaint project in my WC Waukesha Sub thread.

I installed the cardstock decking from MTL in my 6 bulkhead flats.

Everything but lights and decoder are installed in my 3rd Metra bike car. I’ve got two more Pullmamns on the way (will have a total of 5 when all done). For now the passengers in this coach will ride in the dark.

Almost finished 3 Metra coaches on a flat car. Awaiting decals for the flat cars before I finish weathering. I’ve got the loads for two more built, just waiting on the flat cars.
Finished weathering both of the Intermountain SD40-2s I bought from W Neal on Trainboard a while back (Thanks again). Here’s a photo of one.

I picked up a GP 40 and an F45 and finally got around to weathering.

And this tank car I picked up from another TB member.

And I made a couple of loads for that 2 pack of weathered flat cars from MTL.

And bringing up the rear are my newest weathered cabeese. Disassembly with all those delicate parts was nerve wracking.

Looks like a productive weekend for all either in modeling or other activities. I was able to complete my module of the Colton Station. Tried my luck at painting n scale figures.

Except for the lift-out section, the entire length of subroadbed for the northernmost end of the layout was completed and ready for the cork roadbed. I also glued down roadbed for part of the main track, passing siding and station siding at Spencer. This may be a good place to get some of the backdrop in place.

With all of that glue drying, I moved down to the lower level on the peninsula and used the ends for the rolling mill to lay out the mill tracks. Each track holds 6-50’/52’ gondolas. Still needs backdrop work here as well, but I’m pleased with how well the rolling mill is going to look and fit here.

As expected, Saturday was a beautiful day. And, although my wife wasn't quite feeling up to kayaking (or maybe I didn't feel like getting them down from the garage ceiling), we did head out with our bikes to the rail-trail across Berlin Lake and rode about 4.75 miles before heading home for dinner.

Sunday was church, train club, and our Farmer to Farmer board meeting for our Liberia mission. While at the club, we cut back some tree branches that have been restricting our view down the mainline from the train station bay window with a pole pruner that I remembered to take along. We also had a conversation about the final track installations for our port facilities now that all of our benchwork projects are complete.

Somewhere in there I finished removing rust from the antique milk can, applied a coat/can of primer and sealed the bottom with two coats of rust preventative (and used what was left over under the driver's side door of my pickup truck).

Here's the milk can de-rusted, and then as it sits, in primer, drying in the garage.

Nice, I do remember using those milk cans when I was young. We fill three to four each day and put them in the cooler till the truck picked them up.
Glad I didn't have to do that after going to college and then the draft.

I managed to get all the parts for my gondola kit ready, but that was all. I scanned some slides and a few train orders from my collection. Finished rebuilding my Amtrak photos web page this morning. Maybe next weekend I can spend more serious time seated, as my disk issue has finally eased some. Here's hoping!

Well, today I finally finished putting the "glass" backing on all the windows/doors of my Walthers Hardwood Furniture Company kit. I'm going to have Ms Dee Rayle hold a gun on me to "encourage" me to start gluing the walls together this evening.

Hmm... Not a chance. That
would give Kiz cause to
have me arrested. No way
Kiz is getting control of my
banana horde...
