Welcome back once again to the gateway to the weekend, coming to you from the Gateway to the west. It looks like most of us last weekend were pretty busy, lets see if we can do that again. Friday: As mentioned, I'm in the Gateway to the west, or close to it in Collinsville IL as I'm setting up the Athearn Booth for the NMRA National Train Show. Myself and fellow employee, Aaron, showed up yesterday afternoon and got the bulk of the booth up. Today we'll be adding the finishing touches and product. The show opens to the public at 1:00pm so if your at the show, stop in and introduce yourself. Saturday: Day two of the show. The show runs from 10:00am to 5:00pm. I'll probably break away a bit and see what interesting items are out there. We are set up next to some very impressive NTrak and OneTrak modules, so we will have fun railfanning in N from the booth. Sunday: Last day of the show, 10:00am to 4:00pm. Any last selections on items will need to be done by 4:00pm as we will then pack up everything and head back to Central IL. Should be a good weekend and like I said above, if you are at the show, please stop by and introduce yourself. So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll return on Monday the 15th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always... High Greens!
TGIF Y'all, What a week!! Glad it's almost over. Again, pretty simple - for both days. Finish up the the decaling of my beet train project. Start in on the loads. Y'all have a great weekend, -- stay cool Wolf
^ Agreed on the week SP. I'm "semi retired" and agreed the last 4 weeks to step in for someone that took a month off to go overseas. They're back Monday and I caught all of the "scheduled mess" the last 2 weeks. I am going in today, wrap up and DONE! Then back to 16-24 hours a week, working on what I want to. This past week has been a "bear" to say the least. This weekend I want to wrap up the "Monterrey Cabin" by finishing ground cover and building control lines out of the tower. I should be able to do that. Also want to take care of a ton of "small chores" that just need doing. Too many to list here. Have a great, great weekend all!! College football fires back in the 3 full weeks!
f the weekends turns out the way they say I will be doing some gardening. I need to trim the weeping cherry tree and do some weeding of the side garden. I should also clean the fish pond filter. I hope to work on some Tropicana reefers so they do uncouple. Then are a bunch of rolling stock to tune up. I would like to test run a couple of new locomotives.
Good morning everyone. Work on the layout this weekend will be to start some trim and labeling for the turnout knobs that are along the front edge of Carlin. I do want to keep the same type of look as other controls around the layout so we'll see what can I come up with. Will also work on finishing the remaining ballasting that needs to be done. Everyone enjoy your weekend.
Good plans! My plans were changed earlier due a young family member having symptoms. I was to be out of town for a couple of days. Since I am not going, I will continue on the Olds project. Maybe with the two-house deal thrown in. I got some modeling clay and proceeded to run behind due to a lack of experience. I think attempt number nine is coming up. All have a great and safe weekend.
I'm hoping to get some track laid this weekend, this'll involve extending the throwbars on a crossover so the ground throws are easy to operate. I've been walking the neighborhood looking for one of those little flags that landscapers and pest control folks and utility folks use, I need about 12" of good spring steel wire lol. Then maybe figure out the right of way to connect the left staging to the middle, (interchange). Have a great wknd. and Be Safe. Bobby.
Good morning from sunny and warm Northeast Ohio, just got home from my cardiac rehab where they increased the duration and difficulty on the excercises. Will be going to bowing tonight, since I can't lift 20 lbs I can only take 1 ball with me rather than my usual 3 balls. I may have some time to due some painting or decalling this afternoon. Saturday more decalling or painting depending on what I get done today. Sunday, laundry and decalling and painting but may have dinner with my son and his wife. Will also be attending a Civil War enactment at Hale Farm in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Rick Jesionowski
I have a couple of projects to work while multitasking (watching baseball): I am assembling a Bitter Creek 34-ft boxcar to go along with a new set of custom FRISCO SYSTEM (K-C. F-S. & M.) decals: and working on an electronics project using a microcontroller (Raspberry Pi Pico W) to create a DCC voltage monitor (Mainly just to see how these work and build some skills). The files for this one are on GitHub if you would like to play along... I hope you all have a good weekend! -Bob T.
My posting will be a short YT video and story. you have all seen this refinery flare that I built and placed on the club layout at the fairgrounds layout in las Cruces: Now the story, this has been on layout for a couple of years now with never an issue. However, it seems there is a real infestation of mice this summer. So guess what, the mice completely removed the painted cotton balls and at least one LED from this flare and actually some small wires are missing too. So this unit is back on my workbench and I will be re-wiring it this weekend and hope to complete by next weekend. PS: we now have traps and poison food out for these nasty critters. Have a great weekend, carl
I’ve done a bunch of more complicated paint and weathering jobs on my coaches and locomotives the last couple of weeks and I wanted to keep going. But it’s been a very long week at work and I’m pretty exhausted so I think I’m going to do some smaller simpler this bfs this weekend. I’ve got some errands to run Saturday but otherwise no big plans. 1) weathering 3x JTC well cars 2) finish weathering my last 53’ containers. They’re already faded, just need some rust and weathering powder. 3) finish decals and weathering on 3x flat cars that will carry bilevels. If I feel up to it after that, 4) I might weather some more flats I have five other BLMA flat cars that I haven’t started. Two of those will also carry bilevels. The other three have brackets to carry pipe. I think I’ll run those 3 pipe flat cars empty for now until I can find the right pipe loads. I’ve got 6 locomotives on the work bench disassembled in various stages of painting. Those are going to have to wait. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ive been busy this week learning to make game assets for the digital SLRG -- yesterday it was finishing a potato warehouse, and today it was liveries for a couple of Locomotives -- SLRG 111 (SD90/43MAC) and SLRG 1100 (F7A) are done or mostly done -- I tested the horn on the 1100 and it sounded about like a sick goose -- so Im gonna need to find the proper horn sound for that -- Cleveland browns football season starts tonight -- along with NASCAR and IMSA tomorrow -- so im sure I'll be watching racing -- and sleeping as well as continuing work on the Digital SLRG TIM
Planning to finally finish and get painted my HOn30 gondola kit project. Maybe next week get some decals on it. Am looking at one of the end modules of my mini-T-trak empire, as to how I wish to scenic it. Might go to my storage and grab a chunk or two of stored 2" blue foam, and..... Depnds upon my glitchy neck, after work tomorrow morning.
