I have a quart of white semi gloss EasyCare Ultra Premium. I'm wanting to tint it to some kind of earth color. Anybody have input? Local TrueValue says they won't tint it and I'm thinking it can't be that special. I have some India Ink, and some Model Color acrylic,(Vallejo). Any input as to whether my heads full of rocks, or suggestions? Maybe real strong coffee?

Look for Sheffield Tints-All Colorant. Comes in tubes, and one tube would be more than enough for one quart. Made to mix with all types of paint (i.e. does not change semi-gloss to flat, or vice versa), variety of colors, available on Amazon.

Ending up flat would be a plus, but #1 is not looking at white styrofoam.

I don't know if it would still work. You might need to experiment at little, but I had used plain old water soluble RIT DYE to tint any plaster and Hydrocal used in my past layouts. Tint it EARTH BROWN, that way when chip happen, and they will, the plaster/Hydrocal will be something other than WHITE. BOOKBEAR has a good go to source for tint.

Yep. A plus would be a non-gloss effect. The Rit dye idea sounds good. Do test first. Also, if you have rocks in your head and they are not bothering you, leave them alone. Just a thought. Good luck.

I don't know how it would work, but you might want to try Liquitex Basics Acrylic Color. It's cheap and is available at most craft stores in a bunch of different colors.

Every paint store I have ever been to has had tints for latex paint. In fact, back in 1972, my girlfriend (later wife) wanted the living room in her apartment a rather dark blue (please remember the time period) so I bought a gallon of lighter blue and kept adding blue tint until it was dark/bright enough for her.

It actually was more attractive than it sounds. :D
