All, Thanks to ATLAS / KATO, and the current production of ATLAS ALCO Locomotive Shells with walkway, side sills , I believe we could do these .. ALCO'S PROPOSED MODELS . See Photo 1.. far left side The Model Designation is there. I think it resembles a RS-36 on a RSD-12 Chassis, Photo 2 might take some KITBASHING ! Tom Photo 1 Photo 2
Does their paperwork hint at what purpose, or type of customer they had in mind for these models? The RSD33 looks to me as similar in size to the EMD SDL39, which could easily be used on main tracks, but had branch line service in mind.
Sadly, I assume ALCO shared the same parochial marketing culture as did General Electric when it entered the computer industry; "Hi, I'm from GE. How many computers may I sign you up for?" GE's problem was that "everybody" bought their electric generators and power equipment. Just as "everybody" bought ALCO steam locomotives. Sadly, EMD, IBM had perfected their marketing strategies to schmooze top management. In IBM's case, they marketed to CEOs, Engineering VPs, etc., at country club Sunday brunches. I lost many opportunities because my contact told me, "You have the best product, but my boss told me to...."
