Nice Death Star sighting! Other than the spartan cabbed SD70s in the Chicago-twin ports area, these are getting rare. Not sure if I shared this, but UP leading on BNSF in a state UP doesn't serve, ND:
Here is a picture of a Milwaukee Road E6 under construction. It was posted on the io. Milwaukee Road group. Oops, that ended up being larger than I thought it would be. Doug
A shame for these to be disappearing. Somehow they have more visual appeal for me than the Southern Ry/NS Corp scheme.
I also see what I think is NS 1065, the Savannah & Atlanta heritage unit. You captured quite the diversified consist there!
Especially when viewed from the lead dome of the pre-Amtrak CONO. I guessed our closing speed was more than 120 mph. There was a definite whoomph as we passed.
I certainly did! Tuxedo was a bit tattered, but still classy. On a different day, I bagged a westbound grain train on CP at the Railroad Museum of Minot. The head end was so grimy, I processed in monochrome. The pole shadow was terrible in placement, but my position didn't help. The museum has a bay window with a mannequin operator. I couldn't help but include it.
My first catch of CP 183 with KCS 4009 second out. Muscatine, IA. August 21, 2022 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The northbound Silver Star running 6-1/2 hours late in this morning's overcast on the former SAL at Pontiac, SC. Lead P42DC #14 is 26 years old and looking pretty ratty.
