Welcome back to the gateway to the weekend and the last weekend before we enter the first month of ber, as burrr it is getting colder. Hard to believe summer is almost over but the modeling lately has been phenomenal on our weekly thread. Let's keep that pace going.

Saturday: I plan to make a trip to my favorite hardware store for some supplies, mainly LED lighting for the valance. I'm not sure the exact route I will go but the standard rope light seems to be a solution. As for Saturday itself, I may have to invest in some time on Ang's car and perform an oil change. I also need to inspect a possible oil leak that mysteriously appeared after the dealership changed the oil. I have my theories, and this is why I'll be doing the oil changes from now on like I do with my Jeep. This will mean a trip north to her dads where he has a lift so I can see what is going on, repair and change out the oil. Any time left over will be spent on visiting.

Sunday: I'm wanting to wrap up my valance project. I need to install a ceiling panel directly over the layout, then decide on a size for the valance panel which will then cut to size, prepped and painted before applied to the valance frame. While that is drying, I hope to install the last two valance frames and lighting. With any luck, I should have the valance finished. After that it will be time to build the modules but that will have to wait for a future weekend. The other thing I need to do is to install couplers in a set of my N scale Athearn propane cars and do some testing on the old City Job layout. Hopefully I can get all of that done.

So how about you? What do have planned for this last weekend of August? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 29th to see how we all have done. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

No real plans for any expansion. I've been rather busy getting my electric bicycle more safe with lights and adding a big basket mount system. So I did some practice with soldering and crimping on fittings. Haven't done that in some time.
While at the work table I did run my engines around the oval and siding. And make more plans.

I am hoping for a productive weekend. If the storms hold off we have gardening to do such as trimming the weeping cherry tree and replanting a few plants. I have weeding to do. Inside the house are the usual weekend tings such as cleaning the floors and that neverending laundry.

I still have a bunch of rolling stock to tuneup and a couple of new locos to test.

    Good morning everyone,

Today I'll have a beef brisket in the smoker all day and that is right outside the train room door so I can keep an eye on that while working on layout projects. The plan for this weekend include getting at least part of the first turn of the helix done and to continue with the turnout control panels for Carlin.

We'll see on Monday how far I get, everyone enjoy your weekend whatever you are doing.

    Happy Friday all..
This weekend I plan on "maybe" putting in a new circuit breaker card. I have a Digitrax PM 42 that I don't like. It has worked okay, but over time, all those dang soldered terminals need to be baby'd. I purchased a DCC Specialties PSX-4 from Tony's about a year ago and have it sitting in my home office and I am tired of looking at it. So I may just work on that this weekend. Not sure.

There is also some scenery I started last weekend I might work on as well.

Time permitting I may wander over to nscale's place for some brisket.

College football games start tomorrow so I am sure I'll watch some of it as well. Everyone enjoy the weekend!

What type of Jeep is it Jim?

My wife had (notice I said "had"!) a '17 Jeep Cherokee "Trailhawk", and the oil filter housing is a horrible plastic idea that sits on top of the motor, cracked after an oil change, and started dumping oil over the motor! Got rid of it quick after 16,000 miles! Had other issues out of the factory too...

I’ve got a work trip coming up so I’ll spend most of the time with my family. But I’m going to try to finish weathering and reflective stripes on four 100T Greenville hoppers and maybe decal a couple of 64’ trinity reefers for Wisconsin Central.

"mysterious" prob after the dealer work. Right. Eliminate the dealer. (y) Good stuff on schedule. I have an out-of-town visit. This means a little travel. A soccer game to see. :) So. Right now, I have been getting castings out of the mold. The castings are problematic to say the least. But, next week, more tweaking. Have a fun weekend. :D

I need to start working on the new module frames so that they are ready for the winter modeling season. Also with a show coming up I need to make sure the current modules are ready to go as well. And I will continue to work on the new layout plans.

Well: Its looking to be a really busy weekend -- I work as an automotive transfer driver moving cars between popup sales sites - - We dont use a hauler-- We have 70 cars that need to be moved an hour from where they are now by monday night -- and the beginning point is 2.5 hours away -- so Im looking at a couple busy days, and I may have to go 3 hours the other direction to pick up a shuttle vehicle on saturday -- I got a feeling theres not gonna be much work on the Digital SLRG this weekend -- but we'll see what happens

    Have a great weekend

Going to be a busy non modeling weekend, today I have a meeting with the State Bowling Association regarding our local association hosting the men's state championship tournament next year, then I have my regular bowling night.

Saturday, going to Toledo to visit my sister-in-laws who have just moved, may get back in time to do some decaling.

Sunday, will be doing some painting and decaling along with continuing work on a boxcar kit that I am modifying.

we've had 9 straight days of rain, so the 1:1 fence scratch build has been on hold. If it gets dry enough, cutting the grass and setting the remaining poles will have priority. If that doesn't happen, the list of train projects remains long.

Hoping to apply some decals to freight cars. Maybe also do some dullcoating to reduce decal sheen, etc.

Cloudy and cool today, (Portland, OR), mid 90's yesterday. I still have track to paint, and roadbed and track to lay, and then on to wiring, there's plenty to do. I'm getting out of the apartment for a while today. Have a great weekend, and Be Safe. Bobby.

I have no hobby plans for this weekend. Yesterday we had a funeral at church, today we had another funeral, and I'm on my way home to change clothes so that I can leave for my hour and half (plus) drive from Alliance, Ohio to Ashland, Ohio for a class at Ashland Seminary this evening, which will continue all day tomorrow. Sunday, of course, is church, and then possibly there will be time to go to the Sebring Model Railroad Club in the afternoon. I hope so. I'm I could use the break by then.

I plan to start work on this project. Actually I sprayed the red yesterday afternoon so that it can dry for 3-4 days before doing the CSX Y2K Gray on the shell. Why the red 1st? Well I studied the upcoming mask job and decided that on the engineer's side it would be much easier to mask off the red than the gray. Sure hope it works out that way.

    Here is the project:

    1st color applied:

Here is the 1:1 that shows the mask that will be required:

This paint project will take a week or two due to the black and white masking/spraying that is necessary.
The decal sheet has many of the small warning signs.

This is going to be fun !

    Be well !

Way late to be laying out my weekend plans. The last couple weekends have been away from home and time between filled with domestic chores. Today I started putting an exhaust fan and related plumbing on my paint booth. Tomorrow I will continue working on that project. I need a couple more bits of pipe and wire, but I expect to make significant progress. Also working on a garden project for Sharon.

    Stay safe,

The Jeep is a normal, last of the Wranglers built in Toledo and with the straight 6, so a standard oil filter and can be done by me blindfolded. The Journey is a FIAT thing with the 3.6 engine. It has what your Cherokee had. The Mustang will be the last new car I own, I really don't like many cars after 1980.

Yes, a bad idea for a plastic application. My VW Golf GTI has one too in the same location and VW has it visibly marked "25Nm" (18.4 Ft/Lb) on top so that people don't vigorously overtorque the thing. I've never had a problem because I use a torque wrench, but I can easily see how someone with a 1-1/4" socket (often substituted for a 32mm socket) on a long handled wrench could crack it. Aftermarket manufacturers have introduced metal housings which are pretty cool.
