I have been up in Cedar Park, Texas all week working on our ex Southern Pacific dining car. So, keeping with the SP theme, here is an old photo of the 2-10-2 F1 that I forced a Kato Mikado into impersonating.

Good morning from sunny and warm Northeast Ohio!

I got a couple of cars done this week.

First a Front Range 1944AAR Double Door Boxcar kit, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red #2 and lettered with Mask Island (with Hubert Mask's death will now be available from Highball Graphics Decals). Car was used in general service on the Rock Island.

Next up is the old McKeen 12 Panel Triple Hopper where I cut out 4 panels to make a Twin Hopper. Painted with Scalecoat II Black Paint and lettered with Mark Vaughn's decals. In 1964 to 1966 the NYC rebuilt old 50 Ton Twin Hoppers into 65 Ton Capacity Twin Hoppers. They did this as they did not have many 70 Ton Triple Hoppers that were in rebuildable shape and most of their 70 Ton Triples were recent acquisitions. There were close to 5,000 of these rebuilt hoppers in two lots for the NYC and P&E.

For comparison purpsoses here is the 65 Ton Twin with a 50 Ton Twin Hopper.

Pair of modified Atlas Alco RS-32's with a general freight on the Strongsville Club Layout.

    Thanks for looking!

This Railfan was able to catch Southern Pacific #6737 rolling through town. He found a Great spot for taking pictures .

I acquired 13 GP9’s and several structure kits from another division member who is moving to a return village and downsizing. This a partial custom painted N&W GP9 #713. It already has a nice mild application of weathering on it, but there are a few things I want to modify to further represent the prototype.

The latest arrival from Model Railroader. The MR&T 50ft boxcar from Accurail. Disappointed that the plug door doesn't have any printing or decals. But I do like the stencil near the door to return it to the agent WSOR Troy, Wisconsin.
Also stenciled for paper loading only.
It a nice addition to the collection.

Got some D&RGW 6 axle power out in the MRR barn today. Here they sit on the ready tracks waiting their next assignment.
First up DRGW 5505. modified with the nose lights and fuel tank shortened. Details added like the air dryers, sump drain hose and so on.
    DSC01437.JPG

    Next is the DRGW 5515.
This one a bit later version of the model class lights blanked, nose lights blanked. As you can see our intrepid high voltage decal applier has been busy, as those stickers are all over the thing, (per photos). Unit has many of the same mods as 5505, plus ditch lights. I know this rubs some purists wrong, but it was the era I worked on them and operated them, so its familiar to me.

And what DRGW consist it complete without a tunnel unit. the DRGW 5399 started out a Blue Box Athearn many years ago, its been in service for years with little or no problems. Too many modifications to list, Cannon cab and many other details are there.
    DSC01441.JPG

And finally the DRGW 5411, I have images of this unit on the service pit in Alliance NE working with BN power. Another Athearn Blue box loco, detailed up. I use the coupler boxes to hold the shell to the chassis on these units.
