You are so right as many think...(see above)... that way.:cautious:

That whole idea just rings of pure nonsense in my head. You can't tell the difference between a Track Switch and a Toggle Switch? Reallly?? Aiiyiiyii !!(n)(n)(n)

That's precisely the reasoning many have tried to use on me. It doesn't work. Never mind what else I think about this whole idea. Summed up, just pure Nonsense. Oh, forgive me I already said that. :censored::censored::censored:

Oh, it don't matter to me. Confuse yourself if you wish and use terminology that smacks of...okay...that's enough. It's your model railroad. Do what you want with it.:cool:(y)

I have to ask...is it a switchman or a turnoutman? :ROFLMAO:

    Now that's funny. I don't care what anyone says.:ROFLMAO:

    Good Question!(y)

Switchman, because he throws the switch or aligns the switch. Switching the cars into the designated yard track, industrial spur, stub end yard track and or siding.

Turnoutman my ...@$$...I can't say that here. It sounds like bass. Say what?:sneaky:

I actually tuned into a video where the modeler was showing off the layout and saying he was a turnoutman, turnouting the turnouts. I wondered out loud just how far has this come and what model railroad world did he grow up in?

Yes, all in fun. I hope!:D

Oh bageebies !! Here we go again. Some people just need pictures...lol.

Here is a 'turnout' which has a 'switch' that the 'switchman' throws on said 'TURNOUT" !

The 'switch' is the movable parts of a 'turnout".

It don't get any easier to explain...:LOL::LOL::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::whistle:

The first thing I did when visiting Rick and his layout was to point at a 'turnout' and say "Hey nice looking turnout!" Rick didn't even take a swing at me LOL.:LOL::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Well, I can see one omission in that drawing right away. I do not see where they identify the two movable pieces as they are: "Switch Rails".

    Hospitality my friend, hospitality.

I had just bought you lunch and I didn't want it spilled all over my mess of a layout. Messy enough if you know what I mean.

Besides I found out you are bigger then I happen to be.

Keep it up George. Ignore the obvious proof provided here, while I ignore what you call proof. :censored::censored:

The monsters we create when model railroaders and rail fans get together. The lingo of the railroad employees be Big Bear D@^^ ^^ed. Or something like that. There is a Dam where water backs up behind it, to form the Big Bear Lake, right next to the Big Bear Restrooms. The Big Bear Park, Teddy Bear, Book Bear and other unbearable's.

How I responded... is by saying, In the world of the Engineering Departments that is true, the whole of the unit is called a Turnout. However, the rails when they install these units, call them a switch or switch panel. And then we learned here that isn't always the case...either.

Now that should have set things straight. It's just that George and I have had so much fun with this we can't let it go.:whistle::whistle: Oop's I wasn't supposed to say that.:censored::censored:

I do call it a "Switch" and don't expect that to change anytime soon.:cool:

    It's a Switch.:mad::mad::mad:

I walked into my train room last night and the lights were off so I turnouted the on and off wall turnout on.

Today, the 15th. I rebuilt and painted the holders for the transformers. I took the time to turn-it-out right this time. Once these are back in it will be time to hook them up to the control panels. Get all the wires back together. How about run some trains.

Still to do is add the top, bridges and replace some track. Perhaps in the future, re-do the control panels at some point.

Then maybe I can have an Open House and you all can TURNOUT to see it. :sneaky: :ROFLMAO::D:p

    Is this fun or what?

Where I'm standing in the picture. Right behind me is a control point for Cab A. and to my left in front of me is the control point for Cab B. Both holders for the transformers are installed as of tonight. Rebuilt and repainted. Transformers will go in tomorrow. Yes, pictures tomorrow.

Control Point?! Wait until someone gets a hold of me and beats me with a wet noodle for that one. Hint, I misused the verbally.

So, you all Turnout to see the pictures this time tomorrow. More tomorrow. Didn't I just cover that. I think so.

Oh, and George I did get the 35M DC Transformer to break loose, shot it with lubricant. Tomorrow, I'll get my meter out and check it. It's tough and should work just fine.

    Later!

Is the one "control point" that thing that looks like a cat carrier?

Oh boy, you found the curse of the train room.

No Doug, there's no control over what happens inside that thing that looks like a carrier uhh...err cat litter box. When the odor wakes up the nostrils. Yuck! It gets cleaned more often then I care to clean it.

On another note: To everyone, who has participated here, left a Like, Thanks ever so much.

I'm not an American and I'm living 20000kms from you guys. We don't call switches turnouts, we call them points :ROFLMAO: Actually we have become more Americanized with our model trains.
Let's see what you do with that! Nice to see you enjoying the camaraderie Rick!

Hi Alister, actually in US terminology, "Points" are the movable part of a switch and/or turnout. I know the folks in Australia and the UK call the moveable parts of a point, blades. Now if you want to hear something really funny, in my Employee Rule Book from the Class 1 railroad where I work, both switch and turnout are used throughout the book, to describe the section of track that allows a train to move from one track to another. So it's not just in the model railroad world, but also exists in the 1:1 scale world as well :D One thing I can tell you for sure, I've never heard anyone at work say "That turnout is against us" or "I need to throw that turnout". It's always "That switch is against us" and "I need to throw that switch" ;)
