Many of you followed my beginning of this bash job of turning a B'mann J Class into an SP GS1 and made many very appreciated comments. The last time I posted I said the project was dead because of problems with crossheads and rods, I think that was last July.

However, a person stepped up and has sent me a complete set of steam chests, rods all the wiggly stuff for me to continue. He mailed them from New Zealand on 1/5/22 however I have not received as of today 2/25/22.
The New Zealand Post tracking system indicates they arrived in Los Angeles sorting center on 2/20/22, so there is hope. Thank you Alister for the help, I hope I can do the same someday.

So here are 3 images of the project made today. The boiler and tender shells are just sitting on their frames.
You can see the messed up crossheads but I have faith that the new parts are getting close. I am tired of mucking up diesels ( yes George I am going to leave the dark side for awhile ).

They don't call me "hacksaw" for nothing. Thanks for looking.

Hot digity dog, the parts I was looking for came in today 2/26/22. Not bad, 52 days in transit from New Zealand.

Well, I guess this project is dead on the vine. A very kind gentleman (alister) in New Zealand sent me the valve gear assembly to replace the original broken one. I commissioned a person on the forums to make the repair and mailed him the parts on 6/01/22. My USPS receipt has faded out and can not read the tracking number. I have sent e-mails to the person, with no reply. Live and learn.

Thanks for the help alister but what a waste on my part. Sorry!

Strange and irritating occurrence. Hard to trust folks after this happens. Good luck.

At this point, without knowing more facts, I can not mistrust the individual. After all he may have succumbed to Covid, had a heart attack, or auto accident. I might someday see it back. I'll just have to be more patient.

I have now completed my EM-1 / cabforward bash, pictures and video to come, so I will be taking up this GS-1 project again. Perhaps I should start a new thread ?

This shell has developed a slight curvature. I wonder if I turned it upside down and placed some weight on it if it would level out somewhat?

    Be well !

Yikes, it has been a while but look at what has been returned to me and it rolls very freely and is ready to go:

So I can now carry on with the bash job. I shall start a 3rd thread for the future work. Wolf, the SP shall live again in all its glory on my railroad.

Thanks all, for following along with me.

    Be well !
