Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a great weekend, and you were able to accomplish a lot. Let's see how we did.

Saturday: As planned, we drove the hour and 15-minute drive north to get Ang's car ready for winter. The car passed most of the tests, but the front brake pads needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, we also realized that both front rotors had a large amount of rust build up and would need to be resurfaced. This took longer than we had anticipated as the shop that was doing the resurfacing took the rotors but failed to tell the technician on duty. We finally finished the car and was home by 8:30pm.

Sunday: This was supposed to be the day to work on modules, but fate interfered again. An opportunity to pick up a new set of a washer and dryer had us change our plans. We met Ang's dad for breakfast, loaded the old set, went to the big box store, purchased replacements and then spent the rest of the day trying to get them into the ancient farmhouse. This included dealing with an extremely unlevel floor, plumbing installed that made zero sense and the other oddities that make renting here "fun" to say the least. By 7:00pm we had the set functioning, but we still have a half Saturday to finish this project up. And like that the weekend was over.

So, no modeling for me, hopefully you got to spend time in the layout room, a show or club. If you did, let us know about it. We'll assemble again on Friday the 7th to start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    Good morning to Y'all,

The SD-7's are coming along nicely. Decoders are in and programmed. Molded on details have been shaved off. Holes have been drilled. Next - paint.

Good morning all. Did get some modeling done this weekend, but not as much as I hoped. We lost power Friday night for a good amount of time, all due to the remnants of Ian coming up through the Carolina's. Spent time shuffling food out to the garage freezer and refrigerator on a small generator. Then moving it all back after the power came back on. All is well now.

I did manage to finish wiring labeling. Also Sunday got out the elevated bridge I started and put it on the layout and mated it to a plate girder that I built. The plate girder bridge will need to be shortened a bit to make it all fit, so I got started on that as well.

    Have a great week all!

Just a few odds and ends accomplished. I started to replace some stirrups on a gondola, which I decided were incorrect for the appearance I had desired. Cleaned my work bench. Found a grab iron which I had lost to flying lessons, a few weeks back. Fascinated by the fact that I could not find it then, but when it reappeared, was almost right in front of me!?! Changed out a coupler which was not working freely. Disassembled it, put it back together and it is fine now. Suddenly the weekend has passed me by....

    Good morning all,

Had an enjoyable weekend here building an set of legs for one of my Ntrak modules. This particular module is also used in another small layout that sets the mountain division line at 51" so the legs needed to be able to adjust the height.

Working on this on and off all weekend and a couple trips to the hardware store I got this far by Sunday afternoon. Still a little bit to do on this but I am real happy to have finally gotten started on it.

The only thing I really accomplished on the home layout this weekend was to make up a test section of corrugated metal fence using some foil material that I had. This seems to work well and I plan to use this technique to make fencing around the scrap metal industry.

Note: I hate weird plumbing. S- 4's rock! :) Food shuffle = not good. Bridges = good. ;) @BoxcabE50, imagine if you will, an existence in which needed parts disappear and then reappear an indefinite amount of time later. o_O What you have experienced is the "Modelers Vortex Zone". A place where no amount of searching or diligence will produce the "launched" part. Only time and space will manifest its reappearance. Good luck in the future. Module carpentry looks crisp. (y) It looks like I am back in school. :( Bound to happen sooner or later. ;) Due to this, the small houses did not get much attention. :sneaky: I will redouble my efforts this week, hopefully. Not like last week which seemed very busy. Have a great week. :D

I got my homework done on Friday so I actually had time to do something else on Saturday. As a result, this unremarkable boxcar was chosen from my tote of stored rolling stock, received new metal wheels, body mounted Kadee couplers, and a couple ounces of lead sheet glued inside. Why? Because, although it's otherwise an unremarkable Tyco toy boxcar, it's from my original train set from the 1970s. Today it's at the Sebring Model Railroad Club ready to run with the big dogs. [IMG][IMG]

I also spent a little time working on the rocking horse that I rescued from somebody's trash a month or so ago. It's in decent shape but needs cleaned up and its head reattached. It suffered through a couple of bad repairs so the first step had been to remove the overabundance of wood putty and various glues. Having done most of that, I will probably add a small graft to replace the damaged parts, and bind it all together with a few good sized dowels. But that's for next week... maybe.

    [IMG][IMG]

Oh, and Sunday was our monthly business meeting at the Sebring Model Railroad Club where lots of folks decided to pay dues, so I was busy with that as well. As a club, we're already gearing up for our November open house, as we move rolling stock, store privately owned equipment, and make other necessary preparations. Lots of activity.

Saturday was a strange day. My wife lost two pieces of jewelry. Nothing expensive, each item probably $30 or less. She had them earlier in the day and then they disappeared. I caught my sleeve on the back door latch as I was taking the trash out and nearly wound up on the ground. Most of our mail got soaked even though where the mailbox has protection from the rain. I had a load of bed stuff in the dryer that did not dry twice due to things getting tangled up in a fitted sheet. We were supposed to go out and have our anniversary dinner but felt like we shouldn't push it. Sunday was a far better day. We still have not found the missing jewelry. We got most of the indoor Halloween decorations done. We started dusting the radiators. I filled the water tank on the heater. Finally got the bed stuff to dry and folded. We went to dinner for our anniversary and had an awesome meal at the Melting Pot.

On Saturday I stayed away from the trains. On Sunday I did some reorganizing and found a couple reefers I need to put in their bins.

Friday, the first game was terrible, I did not get a mark until the 7th frame, but I bowled well the 2nd and 3rd Game and we won 5 out of 7 points during the position round. Also started decaling a hopper and boxcar.

Saturday, ended up going to the club and running my Broadway Limited powered by a pair of Rapido PA's. In the evening we had the surprise 70th birthday party for my wife with her sisters coming over from Toledo and my son flying in from Denver. It was the first surprise birthday party she ever had and was thrilled with it. We had it at my niece's restaurant in Ohio City.

Sunday, went to my youngest sons house for breakfast and to meet with my oldest son before he left to go back to Denver. Later I did the laundry and continued the decal work on the hopper and boxcar. Also started building another IMRC R70-20 mechanical reefer.

Worked on foam scenery as Hurricane Ian moved through on Friday into Saturday. Received 3-1/2" of rain and sustained winds, but no trees fell and our electricity stayed on line. The yard is a mess, but in consideration of what could have happened, I can't complain.

    "Flying lessons":D:D

Usually when detail parts enter hyperspace (like MT coupler springs), they are never seen again. It's like they enter an alternate dimension. Somewhere, in another reality, MT coupler springs, and other assorted detail parts just appear, much to the residents' bewilderment...:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Let's start with, "It was a good weekend!" Didn't go exactly as planned, but few of my days do. Was supposed to hang out at an ice cream parlor with some rugrats on Friday, but my wife didn't feel well so that was postponed. Put off the Saturday brunch, too. We did watch some soccer. You win some, lose some and, with soccer, draw some. We did all three this weekend.

The big event was going to the Lynden (WA) Lions Club train show on Saturday. I really enjoyed myself. Wished I would have had more time available. There were several layouts to look over. Folks from BC brought toy trains across the border. At least three different N-scale groups were represented with N-Trak, T-Trak, FreeMo and a club-specific modular setup. The Garden railroaders were there as well as the Lionel folks. HO, too. None of the layouts were exceptionally large, but all were very interesting. So much fun to have the chance to visit this show again. Just sharing one photo I took to prove it actually happened.

The Moose Creek Logging Company (On30) is a local group that has been to most shows in my area the last few years. Good to see their layout again. The exhibition hall had skylights and the sun streaming though made it look like the day shift was just getting started at the mill.

Back to reality on Sunday with tree pruning. Going to be a few weeks before I am back to weekend modeling as we begin another cross-country excursion.

    Stay safe,

I think this is the same group that makes and sells scale trees, which I've bought quite of!

Good lookin' products, I've seen them at the Monroe, Wa show a few times. Nice layout!

This Sunday I somehow managed to glue the roof on my Walthers Hardwood Furniture Co. kit. The 4 walls must not have been perfectly square, I guess.

Just the roof details (small building, water tank) and a couple of porches to assemble and then it's done.

    Hmm... I bet Kiz'll drop
it when he tries to put
    the finished model on
    the shelf...

That is a really fine layout. I saw it a few years ago at the Narrow Gauge convention in Sacramento, CA and got THIS VIDEO.

I've only seen them at local shows, but I have some product at home still. I'll look at the packaging to see if they have a site tonight after work.
