Welcome back to the gateway to the weekend. I hope you all had a great week and are now ready for the weekend with all the model railroad projects you plan to accomplish. Let's get started.

Saturday: Not sure how much I will be getting done on this day. My stepdaughter is getting married so we will be attending a wedding. I may be able to squeeze a few hours into the Athearn display layout as I'm building a special corner module that will allow me to set the layout up on one 6-foot and one 4-foot table in an L configuration. It will also allow me to place it in the home studio for images and video.

Sunday: It is supposed to be in the 60's so I'll be picking up where I left off last weekend on my HO layout. I'll start by adding the legs to be used when it goes to shows then transition to the corner module. If all goes well, I'll start cutting the 2-inch foam and place that in the three modules. After that, it will be the 1/4-inch Baltic Birch fascia and maybe some stain. A lot of ground to cover in one day but the warm days are quickly becoming more and more rare.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 17th to see how we all did. Until then, get into that shop, train room or layout room and get some cool projects done. Be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Good morning and happy Friday all. Other than watching football late tomorrow afternoon, it will be all railroading.

This weekend the plan is to have no plans. I consider this a "free weekend" that what happens is dictated by my early Saturday AM tour in the layout room w/ the first cup of coffee. Actually, my kind of modeling weekend.

Everyone have a great Friday and weekend.

I'm REALLY going to try to assemble some kits by Design Preservation Models today and tomorrow.

    Hmm... we'll see how
    THAT goes...

More of the same as last weekend.

Saturday is the NMRA division meeting. After that I need to finish up the pre track work on the the modules then start transferring the track plan. I also need to start prepping for the show on No. 4th.

    Sunday will be the same

Friday, I hope to get some decaling done today along with completing another updating on an old AHM PS Covered Hopper kit with new details. In the evening there will be bowling (along with a few beers).

Saturday, no club I have to work at one of the Cleveland USBC bowling tournaments during the day and later work on the decaling I started on Friday.

Sunday, Laundry and then decide on what cars I want to start on this week along with doing some painting and finish up the decaling.

    Good morning all,

Still working on the finish coat of paint for the module legs. Will be working on finishing a foot bridge over Carlin yard that I started in May. I've also got a couple of DCC decoder installations to work on. Wishing everyone a great weekend whatever you are doing.

I love foam and modules! :D Football, coffee and model railroading: One man's heaven. (y) Kiz make kits! Train show! ;) If one could only engage "Laundry Fairies". I guess "camping" is a good excuse. I once worked a while on a project. So far, I have all the walls attached on the two houses. Roofs and porches are next. This has been interspersed with laser work. I am just now getting usable cuts. Moving along. :) All have a great Fall weekend. :D

Friday: Natasha (our German Shepherd) and I got a nice run in this morning. Since I got a good start on my homework this week, hopefully I can finish my homework before it gets too late and still get some train stuff accomplished. Specifically, I'd like to get one (or several) more old style horn hook cars from my old collection converted to metal wheels and Kadee couplers.

Saturday: I might get out to to the Sebring Model Railroad Club in the morning for part of our work day on the new port facility. In the early afternoon I have a church annual meeting (Charge Conference if you're Methodist), and maybe time to work on other household projects. At least one involves paint and needs to be done soon before it's too cold. The plan, at this point, is to take the dogs for a walk with my wife, but she's been having knee trouble that *might* be a torn meniscus, but is hopefully something less serious.

Sunday: Church, though since it's Laity Sunday, I have decidedly less to do and won't have to go in nearly as early as usual. Then train club in the afternoon. Who knows what might happen after that.

Well it’s Saturday night here in Japan already-I spent part of today working on 2x F40 models alternating between them as paint etc dried. They are my first real kitbashes (an Amtrak NPCU and Metra 211-an F40PHM-3) as neither are offered commercially in n scale.

By Sunday I hope to have them finished. I think the finished results will be okay-there are some flaws already-but they should be good enough for me until a commercial model comes out.

Also will keep scouring the internet for more photos of the Metra 500, the SD70MACH they unveiled this week. I’d like a better picture of the tail and radiator so I can figure out if an SD70ACe is close enough.

I plan to finish and test my mobile command station, add some scenery to the modules, and paint the fascias. Exactly one week to set up.

For ops we plan to use a form of wheel reports rather than car cards or switch lists. This will make it easier for everyone to learn, follow the railroad, move cars without having to read car numbers.

Nothing Friday, but I started on a DPM kit today. Right now, I'm waiting for some paint to dry (fast-drying Humbrol Acrylic paint) then I'll finish the assembly. (I painted the walls months ago... sprayed the front door just now.)

    Hmm... Kiz DID something...?
    I'm having a seizure...

Will continue chopping up foam for a hillside and around my road, and slopping green paint on the pink foam to give me a better idea of what things might look like. It's an eastern railroad, so GREEN will loom large. When it comes time to work the scenery in earnest, I'll probably start by painting white glue on some of the foam and sprinkling fine turf on it as a base and see how it looks. I figure that might eliminate much of the layered cake look and cut lines visible in the foam. This is all new to me.

Looking good. Any other photos of your layout in another thread by chance? I pretty much took the Summer off, but actually ran trains last night. Time to get back in since Fall and Winter are upon us. Although mine is in a climate controlled area, I just wasn't in the mood to mess with trains for some time. Hopefully now I'll get back to working on it?

I painted the roof black, and it's dry now. I dread having to measure and cut the roof and try to fit it in place. Maybe next year...

    Hmm... ahhh, that's the
    Kiz I know...

Thank you. That was my first photo in a long time. Progress has been slow on the DS&N RR, just kind of puttering along cutting and shaping the foam, and making a dusty mess as I go. A few weeks ago I broke out the ShopVac and did a major clean up of all of the foam bits, dust and the whole room. This helped my outlook a lot. I haven't done a thing on the other side of the layout, so this aspect of the build will end up taking quite a while. I'm looking forward to some structure building someday as you were doing.

Train stuff inventory. 4 bottles of burnt sienna, check. Yeah, I lose track. Still no raw umber. (n). Went a little nuts on FleeceBay...22 pieces of rolling stock will be coming in the next couple weeks. Guess I better start that layout so they'll be of use. No, let me read about it and watch other people's on YouTube. I mean it's been 25 years.....what's another year. o_O :D

Well, I finished the kit. Putting on the roof was horrible!!! Hundreds of slivers of black sheet styrene lying all over my work area, each cut in an attempt to get the roof the proper width and length. It took ages to finally get the roof to fit.

Only 14 more DPM kits left to do...

    Hmm... I just checked
    Kiz into a sanitarium...
He should be out in a
    year or two...
