Welcome back everyone to the gateway to the weekend. I hope you all had a great week and are now ready to wind down and discuss what you plan to get done in the workshop or train room this weekend. I'm seeing some great progress on projects so let's keep it up. Saturday: It is supposed to be 80 degrees here tomorrow and if that is the case, it will be a mad dash to get as much done on both the modules and other outdoor projects. I'll get a good head start tonight as I'll be leaving the office early and hope to finish the corner module. Saturday will hopefully allow me to cut the 2-inch foam for the modules, glue the foam on said modules, attach the 1/4-inch Baltic Birch fascia and maybe start finish sanding and staining. I would also like to take the motorcycle out one more time before I prep it for winter storage. Sunday: I need to make my skyboard backdrop on the layout. It will be 1/8-inch hardboard using three pieces in total. I want the corner curved and set a bit higher to accommodate the corner module. That will take a bit of engineering. I doubt I will get it painted this weekend, but I will fill in the screw holes on both the backdrop as well as the upper fascia and finish sand in prep for painting next weekend (hopefully). I also need to work on the Athearn layout in prep for Trainfest which is just a few short weeks away. Ah train season is back! So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll come back on Monday the 24th to see how we all have done. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always... High Greens!
Happy Friday and "gateway" indeed. Good stuff. This weekend the main goal is to start another "batch" of puff-ball trees. I have several areas that need them. I set up on the back driveway to do this and tomorrow is supposed to be clear and 73 degrees. So I need to make hay.... uhhh, puff-balls while the sun shines as it were. After that not sure, but something else will get done that suits my fancy milling around the workshop or layout. Will probably catch some football on the tube Saturday as well. Have a great weekend all
Happy Friday - Y'all We have returned from our camping trip. What a wonderful outing. My plans for this weekend. Apply a gloss coat to my SD-7's. Then start the decaling process. Y'all have a great weekend, Wolf
Good morning all, That module leg set project that I have been working on for the past several weeks is completely done now and so is the decoder install project so time to move on to other things. One of those other things is going to be continuing the upper helix. Cutting, assembling, and painting pieces, then laying cork and track. In between sessions of that I may work on finishing some of the structures and scenes for Carlin's main street. Everyone have a great weekend whatever you are doing.
Well, this weekend starts with some decaling projects, followed by bowling on Friday night. Saturday we have our monthly club meeting followed by running a few trains, and back home for decaling and a little masking on a couple of other projects. Sunday more of the same along with doing the laundry and if lucky a little painting. Rick Jesionowski
Eighty degrees! And a motorcycle! Ride on! "Puff" trees. SD-7's, good friends with GP-7's. I love it when a plan comes together! Decals! Here in North Central Alabama, it is crystal clear skies! So far, I am getting good cuts from the laser. Two hopper sides and one building side. A few minutes ago, I installed the first of two roofs on the houses now underway. With this gorgeous weather, I will just have to see what gets done. All have a safe and "fantabulous" weekend!
Planning to get busy on four HOn30 log cars, now that I have the supplies needed, in hand. Possibly add the rest of my enginehouse tracks for the HOn30 layout. You know how it goes- The best laid plans... Ha ha ha!
I started the DPM Gripp's Luggage kit yesterday. I painted the roof and smokestacks black, and I glued all walls together. After I see my new psychiatrist for bipolar disorder today, I'll start assembling the rest of the kit. Hmm... Kiz already drove his other psychiatrist nuts...
Weather forecast for this weekend is rain. I hope to get some stuff down prior to and in between the nastiness. Need to do: Finish the eight legs started last weekend Start transferring track plan to new module set Assemble two module frames Buy more 2” foam and mesonite Find all the stuff needed for the show on the 4-5 of Nov Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well we’re in Nagoya this weekend. Took the Nozomi Shinkansen again; I need to plan a trip up north to ride the Haybusa. I took Friday off, so before we left I finished weathering four autoracks I started earlier. Took a lighter approach than past examples because they are newer. Tried to get close enough to the prototype with the UP one. Saturday is Legoland and we’re going to visit a railroad museum here on Sunday before we head back to Tokyo. Saturday is supposed to be nice. Hopefully we will be outside. The wife wants to spend some time at Valley Forge Park and perhaps we will bring the puppy along. I need to get the car washed. We have some gardening to do also. Sunday is predicated to be rain thusly we will be inside and possibly doing some heavy cleaning of the foyer. There is always laundry to keep us busy. I have couplers and plastic wheels to replace. I am thinking of running some more drop feeders and creating a couple of new blocks. I should also tack down more of the track even in areas I know will be revised just to eliminate some issues with the track moving out of alignment.
Wait are we suppose to be focused on the motorcycle or the benchwork? And IF that is indeed your garage floor, how it so clean Also how you say multiple helix, a gaggle of geese, a bunch of bananas, a herd of cows, it is, I have TWO HELI (sp?), or HELIXES, or HELIX's, or.... Me thinks this is a motorcycle thread too You folk's enjoy them motorcycles, or is it motorcycle's, or is it...
I only removed the hay and chickens from the train room for the photo session In the layout are two helix. Upper level for the main line and lower level for the staging yard. When I'm done with the woodwork I put the Harley back in the workshop. She shouldn't get dusty.
Plans have already started an got the base cleaned an vacuumed, track cleaned, and installed my first piece of flex track to replace 5 pieces of 11" radius sectional track. Further plans are to continue with attempting to replace 9 3/4" track on inner loop with flex track, and then another 11" radius with flex track on the second base that I connect to form an L for longer trains. Nice to be in the mood again after taking month's off from any train action.
Ive been doing some thinking over the last couple days and I have determined that I need to shrink the size of my digital layout, so I'll be starting with a blank piece of paper and going from there -- its still going to be the San Luis and Rio Grande, just in a bit more managable size -- Im thinking originally of the run from walsenburg to alamosa, with a couple extensions off it -- so I'm gonna get cracking and see what falls out Whatever happens, Its gonna be fun TIM
I did a little more work on DPM's Gripps Luggage kit yesterday... installed the window "glass." I just need to paint the freight doors/office door brown (waiting for the paint to arrive today) and put the roof on today. Tomorrow, I'm going to try to assemble my City Classics gas station. I already painted the base and roof... just need to do some minor painting of the gas pumps and other minor parts. Hmm... I guess Kiz will assemble his 12 Walthers Cornerstone kits Monday... ha ha ha, I crack me up...
My current goal is to not go totally cross-eyed trying to figure out all the little warning and information label decals for my 70-tonner. Apart from the fuel filler label, I can't find high-enough resolution photos of the prototypes to figure out which microscopic decals go where...
