Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a great weekend and accomplished all that you set out on Friday. Let's see how we did.

Saturday: I got off work early on Friday and got started by building the "nonstandard" corner module. By dinner I had it about 90% finished. Saturday, I got up later than expected and started my day with some fresh perked coffee. After spending some time in Any Rail, I got working in the shop and finished the corner module and added three legs to said module. With the modules built, it was time for the 2-inch pink foam. I struggled for a bit on how I was going to cut that big 4X8 sheet into 15.5X 46.5-inch pieces but I figured it out. Thanks to a metal sheetrock meter stick, a skill saw and a shop vac, I made quick progress. I cut out the pieces I needed for the modules, stored the excess and called it a night. We enjoyed a low-key dinner of hotdogs on the grill since it was so warm.

Sunday: We got up and I started right away in the garage. I started by gluing the foam to the modules then switching gears to work on the Athearn display layout. I was about 90% finished with the new transport cradle when the power went out (This is why I don't have images this week). Not a big deal since I have battery powered tools but the saws where out of the question. I worked on adding some of the fascia to two modules before it got too dark to see. Fortunately, Ang and I had planned to meet her dad and grandmother for dinner that night. Not as much progress as I wanted but a fair amount, nonetheless.

So how about you? How did you do? Let us know. We'll come back on Friday the 28th to start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

Good morning. Overall a good weekend.

Saturday I did manage to make up about 150 puff balls. They still need now to be painted and rolled in ground foam/flock. Also started on more beams for the elevated bridge. Also managed to grill some NY Strip steaks and scarf down a cannoli afterwards, plus watch some college football.

Sunday: I finished making up about 8 beams from the ITLA kit for the elevated. Also spent a good hour on bringing along more scenery at the Jackson River bridge.

Pretty peaceful weekend. Got some stuff done, not very glitzy, but tasks that will move me along. Have a great week all!

    Good morning all,

Weekend went about as planned. Got a full turn of bench work and a half turn of road bed and track added to the helix. And started on a bunch more parts to continue.

Also worked on finishing up some scenery around one end of the new foot bridge.

Bowling Friday was okay but we lost all seven points for the night. Managed to do some work on building a 40’ boxcar kit.

Saturday went to the club and added a new member and checked out a problem with my PA-1 derailing and determined that the truck was twisted which left the front wheel on one side higher than the rest and it picked the joint on a curve. Got one side decaled on two cars while adding some more decals to a U25b locomotive.

Sunday, did the laundry and went to visit my son and their new dog. Finished decaling one car and the second side on a boxcar. Added the panels to an Athearn ribbed side hopper to make a panel side hopper. Also finished the 40’ boxcar kit by adding the final detail parts. Masked the sides of a caboose kit so I can paint the roof this week.

Saturday was a tough day for me. I was stiff and sore and not too mobile. Once I got myself going for the day the wife and I did run some errands and go for a nice drive through Valley Forge Park. We had a nice early dinner at Cracker Barrel on the way home. Sunday, we took all the furniture out of the foyer and gave the floors a good heavy cleaning. I ran a few loads through the washer and dryer. I also did one of those chores we should do more often and that is clean out the refrigerator. Amazing how much stuff collects in there.

I did work on some trains. I painted some details on a Roundhouse kit of a Western Maryland caboose. I changed out the wheels and couplers on a few Athearn blue box kits of Heinz pickle tank cars. I fixed some damaged ladders on a Roundhouse kit of a PRR 26 ft tank car. I still need to change the wheels and check the coupler height on the tank car.

Fair progress is good progress. (y) 150 puff balls and a cannoli! (y) We're going in circles (fortunately). Nice weeds. Need to do a "forty-footer" myself. I hate stiffness. :( Laundry seems to be getting "pervasive". For me, not much done since Friday A.M. Due to trip out of town to daughter's home. :) Back Saturday night with chores yesterday and today. Will get back on two-house project and then decisions on next direction. ;) All have a great week and be fun. :D

Got a little done Saturday. Worked on the site "#2" as planned but not as much progress as i would have liked. Got a base coat of paint on some model tractors, and did almost finish the upgrade on a sewer truck from a 50's model to something a tad more modern. Was much easier than expected.

Got my 70-tonner to the first stage of weathering. A little oil paint and it's got that splotchy, sun-baked look of the prototype.

That will have to cure for a few days before I can move on to the grease and soot. Oil paints are a good test of patience

Great weekend. And it was cold and wet too. I moved the module frames indoors. Been working on track plan all weekend. Gluing down the road bed today.

I got started on version 2 of my Digital SLRG -- got the setup track, as well as staging yard laid out -- the Walsenburg yard is mostly done, but I'm still fooling with getting the turntable for the engine service facility done. I have the start of the Tourist railroad yard done but not much more

I managed to sort a few items on my workbench, and got ready, but failed to get started on... Ordered another HOn30 3D caboose, to match one I shared here a few months ago. Also pondered ordering a couple of additional laser box car kits. Still pondering.... Worked on adding another couple of tracks for my HOn30 turntable. Need to get off my posterior and get the engine house built! Where can I buy some motivation? Nobody seems to have it in stock, locally.:eek:

    Good mornin to Y'all,

Looks like most of us had a great weekend.

I'm a bit late reporting in. (Crazy day at work - yesterday) - After a week long vacation, I had over 500 Emails to go through. Fun stuff --- not!!

So, I managed to get about 98% of the decals applied to me SD-7's --
    That's about it....

    Y'all have a great week,
    Wolf

Also late, flex track replacing the five 11" curve sectional track still working thank goodness. Appears so far my Kato CSX ES44DC's and the containers car's are working now when I had so much problem in the past, who knew, not me? Also, got the second base out of the attic and attached it last night, I mean Sunday, cough, cough, ( you know this is weekend thread ) so I could run some long trains with my L setup. Having fun after such a long break from any model railroad activity.

Your double track helix is quite extraordinary Brad, with a precise build and being able to adjust the grade. Neat stuff there. (y)

Friday: I mostly just worked on homework, laundry, and a few other chores.

Saturday: I spent most of the day at Silver Park across town supporting the Buckeye Council with their annual Cub Scout recruitment event, "Rocket into Scouting." They had oppoptunities for fishing, camping , cooking, archery, a BB gun range, and up on the hill was my station with "Rocket into Scouting" where we assisted something like 100 youth, and their parents, to build and fly a model rocket (most for the first time).

    [IMG][IMG]

I had more homework that needed done, but by the time I came home I just ate dinner and sat in my recliner.

Sunday: was church, then a couple hours at the Sebring Model Railroad Club, where things are getting busy as everyone prepares for our November open houses. Then home, a short nap, and homework until after bedtime.

Also, since I last posted an update, I mostly completed my upgrade/conversion of the McKeesport Coal car that I picked up at the last train show. I added several ounces of weight, changed couplers, metal wheels, etc. It still needs a few minor tweaks, but I took it to the club and it runs like a champ.[IMG]

Arriving in the mail from eBay was a set of 5 deep well cars that will need added weight, and yet another that arrived yesterday (which is yellow instead of blue).

The enormous ones on the left are not mine, but yes. The smaller ones on the right are mine, but also yes.

That said, the ones that the Cub Scouts were flying were MUCH smaller. :)

The Cub Scout rockets were only 13mm in diameter and 10.25" tall.

It is generally understood in the model rocket community that the upper limit of size and altitude is only the limit of your wallet. The biggest one in the picture, which is laying on the table, and parts of it on the ground, fully assembled, and equipped with avionics and a couple GPS trackers, cost somewhere close to $3000, plus the cost of the motor which will be another $300 to $500 depending on size and brand.

My wallet does not allow me to spend $100 for one press of the launch button so although I have a level 1 high power certification, I almost always fly small.

I enjoyed rocketry with my brother and friends in the early '70s. I flew small, as that was the only option back then. I converted most of my rockets to streamer recovery after losing too many with parachute recovery, with my rocket drifting away into the next county. It never dawned on any of us that a less powerful motor would increase chances of recovering the rocket after its flight.

My brother-in-law and I flew these in the 1990's. The ones you bought at Michaels at the time. The smaller I think C motors. Anyway we found a field and they had cheap parachutes in them, but often they would not deploy, and we would lose some rockets, never to be found again. We were just always hoping they didn't go into traffic. And of course being in our 20's or early 30's, we laughed :) Men and their toys, geez! It's amazing some of us are still alive the crazy stuff we did :) And young boy's/men still do! And sometimes when we are older and stupid :)
