A distant howl is heard across the railyard, a black cat crosses the RIP track and a witch's brew of accomplishments await to be revealed. Happy Halloween in Trainboard. I hope you all had a less spooky weekend, let's see how we did on this last weekend of October.

Saturday: The day started with Angela's dad picking us up and going to breakfast. We enjoyed a nice hearty breakfast at our local dinner then set out for Bloomington to find the location of a cake and candy store that she had found out about and checked it out. After that we went to a local hunting and camping show. The show was very lightly attended so we did not stick around long. From there we went to the local slot car shop (Yes Bloomington IL still has one) but unfortunately, they were closed. We stopped for lunch on our way home, picked up supplies at the big box store and called it a day.

Sunday: Was cold and rainy so working in the garage was out of the question. Maybe it was the rain, but I had zero motivation. I did manage to get a lot of the upstairs and workshop cleaned the air conditioner out and the blue LED strip installed in the upper vallance of the layout to simulate nighttime operations. By the time I found my motivation, the weekend was over.

So how about you? What did you get done over the weekend? Let us know. We'll do it all over again on Friday the 4th of November. Until then, have a great week, be safe, stay healthy and...

    HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
    &
    High Greens!

Trick or treating was Saturday and I had to paint faces so didn’t get too much done. Couple of ConCor autoracks with Plano panels and some cheap cars inside some up in a fantasy WC scheme. One more Red Caboose autorack-BNSF.

I’ve got two more Concors like these to finish and some more Intermountain and Red Caboose autoracks. Didn’t get around to finishing the coalveyors so that might be next weekend. Running low on dullcote too.

    Happy Monday and Halloween all.

This weekend managed to get 2 things done.

    1. The scenery along the Jackson River got done to where I can now pour the Environtex. I was hoping to do that this weekend, but that's not something that can be rushed or hurried, so I deferred until another day where I can take my time with it.
    2. While I waited for the diluted ModgePodge glue to dry on each phase of scenery, I worked on the next group of beams for the elevated bridge.

Next up after the water pour will be trees and ground cover up the slope to the bridge. I am not too pleased w/ the ground cover color along the banks. I may take some powdered pastels and darken it slightly. Other than that, it is coming along.

I pushed hard on my 70-tonner and completed nearly everything but the handrails before the weather took a turn for the wetter.

    Good morning all,

Got some more done on the helix, worked on some more scenery, and then worked on finishing the railroad rooming house kit. Already had the basic structure done with the stairs and railings. Now adding the doors and windows, and frames.

I did not get much done this weekend around the house. After the wife saw the preliminary MRI results, some issues with a couple of discs, I was placed under restricted duty which meant no lifting or bending. I was able to do a little bit of laundry as along as the weight of the baskets met with spousal approval. I have an appointment with the orthopedic doctor to discuss the MRI later today. We did some grocery shopping and went down to Delaware to get gas. The pump price was $3.79. I paid $3.39 with my grocery store rewards.

Trains also suffered. I did not get to doing any reorganizing. I did get to run my “new” used Rivarossi Blue Comet steam locomotive. I was pleased with how it performed. I need to clean the wheels some and look to see if it needs any lubrication or cleaning of old lubrication. Need to change the coupler to a Kadee. This will now force me to change couplers on the 8-car set of Rivarossi Blue Comet cars I got a while back.

^ Good luck w/ the orthopaedic doctor. The Mrs. has on-going back issues and I see every day how much that can affect a person. Hope yours turns out short-lived and you're back "on-track" soon.

Got the caboose kit parts all washed up and ready. Came up with an idea to narrow some log cars. Off Shapeways, supposed to HOn30, but are a foot too wide and that really stands out against true HOn30 width, which is mostly about 6&1/2 feet. These seem to be made more to European 009, which is slightly larger. But that was it. I had a fall. Concussion, large knot on my head. Stiff and sore. So have been taking it easy since then. Rats.

Good morning from cool and rainy Northeast Ohio.

Bowling went well on Friday had my first 600 series for the year and the team won all seven points. Finished assembly of an Intermountain 12 panel boxcar.

Saturday we went to the club and did some train running and minor repairs. Went to paint the top panels on the end of the 86’ boxcar and found the reefer white went bad, will have to wait until I can get some new paint delivered as my local hobby shop closed due to retirement and I like to paint and mask the ends before attaching all the detail parts. I started instead on an Athearn Sieco boxcar kit. I also decaled a caboose, boxcar and hopper.

Sunday I painted the Intermountain 12 panel boxcar, finished decalling the aforementioned cars and completed the Sieco boxcar kit. Also finished up some detail parts on another old AHM covered hopper renovation and then painted the car.

BOO! Motivation sometimes eludes me as well. I hate it when I run low on what I am using. SD-7 "supah stahs"! Yeah, when I rush it bite me in the behind. River = cool! (y) Nice 70-tonner! ;) Rooming house looks sharp! I admire your courage for adding details after building. :) I have had a back problem and wish @Tompm did not. Ah, retrofitting, the bane of my upgrading efforts. If it don't look right, it don't look right. Please be safe. Cool and rainy here too. @dti406 gets more done than I can think about doing. ;) Bad paint and closed shops, the bane of my shopping efforts. I have done little since Friday. Probably due to "piddling". I am still puzzling out slope sheets. :cautious: Houses still need porches. This coming week should see better results. (y) The Bogey Man 'll get ya' if ya' don't watch out! All have a great Halloween. :D

Shockingly I got some railroad work done this weekend.

First up, I rehabbed a caboose I grabbed in Altoona last month. With MT couplers, correct caboose trucks and metal wheels she's ready for charter service.

Then I started putting together a grade crossing:

And finally, some priority V&O Freight was moved over the Baton Rouge Southern in honor of Allen McClellend's passing:

Friday, I did homework and housework.

Saturday, we did some grocery shopping, took the dogs to the dog park, then had dinner with our daughter and SIL as they dropped off the two grand-dogs for the week while they enjoy a cruise to the Bahamas. If you're counting, that means we have four dogs, with three of them being German Shepherds from 65 to 110 pounds.

In order of appearance are Frodo (ours), Natasha (ours), Tasha (daughter's), and Zoro (the biggest one).

In between, and afterward, I got lead sheeting cut to bring my new eBay well cars up to standard weight. I also finished tweaking the McKeesport Coal car that I've been working on.

Sunday was church, which went a little long as we celebrated All Saints Day and remembered the members, friends, and family that passed away in the past year. And... maybe the preacher took too long.

After church, my wife and I had lunch with one of our Sunday school classes that was staying to make peanut brittle for their annual fund raiser (and yes, we'll mail you some).

Then I went out to the trainclub, which was again busy with preparations for our upcoming open houses. But, when things slowed down, I ran all the new we'll cars at several speed steps running for a few laps at each. They ran great except for one of my earlier acquisitions that I'll need to look at after the open house.

First is the yellow TTX set, and the second is the blue APL set.

After train club, we took all four dogs to the dog park for a while. Our visit was shorter than usual because our daughter's dogs don't get as much exercise as ours and got tired trying to keep up.

And today, Monday, I've caught myself a cold and am spending the day in my recliner. The dogs occasionally express their concern and check to see if I'm still breathing.

Well I am not sure CB&Q makes any more sense then CSX delivering to the refinery, but at least it's boxcar's, me thinks, instead of containers :) And my accomplishment was thumb tacking the background on the wall. Took about 120 seconds :) But it counts, or does it? Mainly wanted to show I do own a FEW other locomotives :)

    IMG_2487.jpg

Yes the crumbled ( is that a word? ) up backdrop is what I accomplished! Better then nothing at all? Oh yeah, and I took a photo! Not bad for an entire weekend, is it :)

Been a busy weekend. Lots of wiring going on. Had to stop in the middle to goto work Saturday night so I wasn’t able to finish. All that is left is attaching the feeders for one frame to the power bus then each switch needs the throw rod installed. For the next week it will be out on hold as in prep for the show this weekend.

Today I actually assembled a simple Tomy Tec 2 story bank building. It snapped together somewhat easily, although the instructions were in Japanese. I did have to cut off 2 placement tabs from the bottom of the building because I couldn't get them to fit in the base slots.

    Hmm... I'm trying to get
Kiz to call the bank the
    Gitche Gumee Bank...

I'm on a roll... I started the LifeLike Co-Op Elevator kit and finished about half of it. I could have finished it, but LifeLike in their wisdom put the instructions on one side of the sheet and illustrations on the other side, so I spent a good amount of time flipping the page back and forth and then trying to find the place in the instructions where I left off.

    Hmm... I wonder what
    the Co-Op Elevator
    elevates...

    Hmm... Kiz used to work
    in the Amateur Office
    Building...

I gave up on this kit. Parts didn't fit right in many places... tedious!
