Going to get me some of these when they are available hopefully at my local Hobby Shop, if not I'll get them online. I want one set of the Mast Arm traffic lights! Not sure when they will actually come out?

They DO NOT change color you get 2 Green and 2 Red in a set, but I am fine with that! I'm gonna have to get another Hub or two!

I can see it now if I bought working n scale traffic lights:

I would be so excited I would install them...permanently. Stand back admiring my work. I would wire them in and flip the switch. It would then be that I find out that the Northbound lanes have a green light. The Southbound lanes have a red light ! The Eastbound lanes have a green light ! The westbound lanes have a red light ! o_O

The ensuing chaos at the intersection would be like something straight out of an episode of The Keystone Cops !!!:LOL:

    Yikes... good to know.
The do look nice but now I am wondering which to get. I was going to get the mast-arm ones and instead might just get the pedestal versions. Surprised that Wood Scenic did not figure a way to make the lights sequence... maybe a future upgrade???

Surprised they are not out for Christmas season, unless something happens, probably next year, maybe Spring time, or even next Christmas season? Yeah, now I am thinking about the Pedestal ones for reaching in and moving cars, etc... I don' want to break the Mast Arm ones doing that. Looks like we have awhile to think about it?

I think the reason is cause it would have required a small circuit board and they don't want to mess with that? But the main thing is the Hubs are based on single lights and just the dimming option and they wanted them all to work with the existing hub system? And they want it to literally be Plug & Play. The one option does Blink though. Just guessing that is the reason!

I don't know the Mast Arm looks way cooler :) I think they are going to be around $29.99, and possibly the N Scale cheaper? I'm thinking $21.99 - $24.99 N Scale, but only a guess.

I am a bit put off that Woodland Scenics is trying to get you roped into their Just Plug system. You can rack up a fortune buying their hubs.

Has anyone tried these guys? WEHONEST at EBAy

Not really, unless you could devise a way for the traffic to actually move. Then you would have a pile up. But then you would need to have a lawyer running to the scene and beating the ambulance. It gets complicated.

:ROFLMAO: I have visions of a modern Lionel post-war adaptation where a 1-800 Lawyer noisily bursts out of a streetside business and buzzes his way straight to the accident scene with attaché case in hand.

No one is roping anyone into anything. It's the customers choice and I choose to buy them. Someone doesn't like a product, don't buy it. Simple as that!

I am sure one does NOT need to use the 'plug n play system' to use these lights. I haven't researched the voltage of these lights but I am willing to bet there are alternative ways to wire them in. Wiring them to a 3 volt buss line under the layout should work just fine. All my led lights on my layout run off a couple of 3V wall warts that can run 50 led lights each !!

The hubs are nice as they keep your wiring tidy and convenient but aren't necessary as mtntrainman posted. You can even use a 12-24v source to power them as long as you use the inline resistor that comes with each light kit. Just remove the JST connector from the included adapter so you can wire to whatever you need to.

There are lights that don't have an adapter and are all ready terminated with a jst connector such as their peel and stick lights but again just remove the connector or even the inline resistor if wiring to a 3V source.

I use several different systems to light my layout which includes WS lights and control it via my DCC command station without a single one of their hubs. So you can get as fancy or simple as you need without using the WS lighting hub system.

If you are using their system I ran 12 street lights and 2 peel and stick lights using 1 hub. As other have explained there are probably other ways to use them, I just stick with the hub system as I want it to be as simple as possible. Once again it is up to the customer. I will definitely get at least one set of traffic lights, and probably buy one more hub to hook them up. The Just Plug system is meant for those of us that are lazy, and that's me :) Actually they are meant for a lot of people, not just lazy ones :)

The Just Plug system also works with their pre-lit structures which aren't cheap. Most people add things to their layout as they have the money. No matter what it is? That's how the hobby works.
