Welcome to the gateway to the weekend. It's now November and our model railroading should be in full stride. Now let's keep the injuries and sickness to a minimum.

Also, this past week we lost a truly great model railroader, Allen McClelland. Allen was an author and modeler of the famous V&O HO railroad, a railroad that influenced many after it in terms of prototype operations, scenery and more. It is with great sadness we say goodbye to another model railroad pioneer, but his legacy will endure for many years to come. Our sympathies to his family.

Now, let's see what we have planned for the weekend.

Saturday: I plan to go early to my favorite hardware store and pick up the 1X2 pine that will make up the foundation of my layout. This will be the shelving if you will, in which to set the modules on and ensure all is level. The store opens at 6:00am so I'll have the store to myself so who knows what else may find its way into my cart. Once home, coffee will be brewed, corned beef hash and eggs will be cooked and hopefully the wheels of progress will follow. It is supposed to rain but I hope to cut the 1X3 upstairs and get that project completed. The fascia should be ready for stain as well. Saturday night we have a family function, but I should be able to get the above finished by then.

Sunday: Is supposed to be 70 degrees and possibly the last nice day of the year. I plan on taking the Mrs. for one last motorcycle ride and one last ride of the year in the Mustang then clean them up and at least get the motorcycle in winter storage. We'll see as it will be a short day with the sun going down before 5:00pm. Yes, that's right, don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour before going to bed on Saturday. Any other free time will be left in getting ready for Trainfest next weekend.

So how about you? What do you plan to get done over the first weekend of November? Let us know. We'll all return on Monday the 7th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

On Friday I hope to continue some decaling work on a caboose and 40' boxcar after going to the rec center for continuing self directed cardiac rehab, but then comes bowling tonight.

Saturday, I will be going down to Columbus to bowl in the State Seniors Tournament, may continue working on the decals in the evening along with resuming work on the 86' Boxcar kit as my missing screws should be delivered on Saturday.

Sunday, doing some chores around the house and hope to finish the decals and paint a couple of completed kits so I can decal them next week. Also continue work on the 86' Hi-Cube kit.

Happy Friday all. This weekend will be a mixed bag. Would like to finally pour the water on the river scene, but don't know if I'll get to it. I have some "honey do" tasks from the Mrs. Also, late tomorrow afternoon heading over to the stadium to tailgate and see NC State play Wake Forest with an 8:00pm kick off.

Also this weekend there is the Neuse River Valley Train Show at the NC State Fairgrounds. I'll run over there either tomorrow AM or Sunday. Betwixt and between all of that, I will get some modeling in here and there. We'll find out Monday what I did 'cause right now, (other than being hoarse from the football game and broke from the train show) I have no clue what I'll get accomplished! Have a great weekend all!

Nothing but cleaning and organizing here. My recent bout of train productivity has left tools and supplies taking over every corner of my apartment. Maybe I'll get around to building the office part of my Trackside Transfer building if I manage to expose a couple square feet of workbench...

    Good morning everyone,

On Saturday afternoon my city will have a CERT (community emergency response team) drill which I will be part of.

This weekend will be the fall open house at the South Bay Historical Railroad Society and I plan to get to that for a couple hours on Sunday. They have a big sale area and the past two years I have found some deals there. I need more cork and Atlas flex track to finish the helix so I'll look there for those and other things.

In between these events and some house and yard chores I will be continuing work on the Railroad Rooming House kit and will be working on some more parts for the helix.

Wishing you all a great weekend.

Among other kits, I received my

Walthers Cornerstone N 933-3850 Merchants Row I Kit

    933-3850 1 $35.99 USD $35.99 USD

I'm going to try painting the individual store fronts (5 stores - all one long piece) in a few hours. We'll see how much I get done before I get frustrated and quit! I'll be using bottles of Tamiya acrylic paints and see how that looks.

I keep finding myself looking for items stashed, too carefully. A list is beginning to grow. Rats. I will be spending a bit of time in what may be a fruitless search. Also planning to paint, plus decal four HOn30 log cars, which I have very slightly modified. And then? Dunno. :)

I think I’ll finish the last two ConCor autoracks-just need to decal and weather. I may tackle something else afterwards if I have time.

Well, I tried to paint some of the store fronts on the Walthers Merchants Row I kit tonight. After about a minute and a half, the Tamiya acrylic Buff paint wasn't flowing on properly. Ah, (bleep!). I guess I need to stir the paint better. I have to look for my battery powered paint stirer and some double A batteries.

    Hmm... another day shot
    to (bleep!)...

Well it's on to try and add the flex track again on the main 2'x4' base. And also touch up the black paint on the base where I missed with spray can's a long time ago. The plan is to start tonight, but you know how plan's go? :) And take some more photo's while I have a few different locomotive's and rolling stock on the track, before I remove them to add the flex track to replace some sectional pieces.

Here is hoping I don't get lazy again?

Friday: The wooden panels were delivered and the construction for the plant could continue. The weekend is saved.
Benchwork on both sides along the roof sides are almost done.
