Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a great weekend and got a lot done, let's see how you all did. Saturday: The first day of Trainfest for me at the booth and it was busy! It looks like Trainfest is back and just as good as ever. Our booth was packed until about 2:30pm when we could take turns taking a break. It was nice to see so many in attendance at the show. Sunday: The second day was not as busy but still busy and I got to talk to a lot of people. I also got to walk around and see some of the great layouts and displays as well as pick up a new Tangent Illinois Central Gulf caboose, something I have wanted for 20 years now. Before we knew it, we were taking down the booth and headed home. I got home late last night but it's back to the office for me today. So how about you? How was your weekend? Let us know. Busy long weekend-Washing machine broke and got fixed, did some Xmas shopping, and recovered from jet lag. But more importantly I finished a few projects I started months ago. First, I finished 3x Dash 8s-patched them over to WC, weathered, and added burn marks on two of them. Then, I finished 6x coalveyors for C&D service. Patched, weathered, side extensions added. I modeled them empty with a bunch of debris left in the bottom. I weathered a centerbeam and a few containers too! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ordered a few things, as planned. About to place another small order. Had a big pile of saved empty cereal boxes, etc. Cut those up, and are ready for use shimming track, or what ever. Still looking for my piece of sheet lead. Why is it I file things so carefully, yet can never find them again??? My fading memory is swearing to the fact this never used to happen!
I spent a lot of time working on a database project, and on an architectural visualization project, but alas, didnt get any time on the digital model railroad -- all in all, still a good weekend
Good mornin to Y'all So - my weekend went as planned. The Honeydo project is going well. Replaced the rotting wood on top of our balcony's pony wall. Next weekend - paint. That's about it. As i suspected - no MRRing. Y'all have a great week Wolf
Overall a good weekend but not as much train time as hoped. the better part of Saturday was consumed by some unplanned errands but did manage to spend a couple of hours at the workbench. Made some progress on stuff for one business on the layout, installed some more metal wheelsets on rolling stock, and ran a couple of trains. Sunday was my son's 18th birthday and he had a couple of his friends over. We are doing a bigger celebration in a couple of weeks when more friends and family are available. Anyway, ended up watching a movie with him and his friends after lunch so that pretty much took care of any free time. Now it's back to work this morning. Hope you all had a great weekend!
Greetings all. Weekend went well. Spent time in the train room Saturday AM, cleaning up and working on some minor scenery projects. Then went over to watch a late afternoon football game. Got beat by Boston College which was not expected. Sunday as planned, I poured the Environtex epoxy mix at the small river scene. Went well. I managed to get some "ripples" in it at the 1 to 2 hour point as suggested in the many videos I watched on the subject. Still looks too "still" for me. I saw a clip on Boulder Creek RR on how to deal w/ that using Modge Podge gloss for waves/motion. So I may hit that this week. Spent the rest of the day sprucing up some other scenery. I was with a lot of you, because of interference did not get as much done as intended. Friday while cleaning up after putting the first color on a boxcar I almost ripped off one of my fingernails so the decaling was put off. Bowling went well in the evening but a couple of times I hit that finger. Saturday, took my wife in for an MRI in the morning then off to the club for some train running and conversation. Later went out for drinks and appetizers with some friends so got nothing done. Sunday, went to Costco for some stuff and spent an hour with the grand children on Facebook. Finally got to some decaling and finished one boxcar completely and 95% of another. Rick Jesionowski
Started cutting foam for the mountain on the right side of the layout. In an effort to reduce the mess, I'm using cereal box cardboard to cut patterns, then going to the garage to do the actual foam cutting. I'm hoping that I can complete everything without having to buy more foam.
Good morning all, I did get to the hobby shop on Friday and picked up enough cork and Atlas code 80 track to finish the helix. So worked on the helix off and on all weekend. Getting close to the top and need to figure out any adjustments needed to line up with the upper return loop / staging deck. Starting to figure out placement of the fuel tank and sanding tower. Not much that's photo worthy this week but here's the brass tank my friend gave me.
Spent Saturday working around the house. We got all the potted plants in to the house before the freeze. Also finished up putting the Halloween decorations in their bins. Down I need to get them back down to the basement. Sunday, we did not do much. It was a very doldrum day. I am not sure why, perhaps the time change finally caught up with us. The only modeling that got done was one Roundhouse 36 FT boxcar got built.
My weekend went about as I expected, except that my homework took longer than I had hoped, so I was not able to get a head start on this week's work. In any case, Friday, I did homework and stayed home while the church's painter did some work on a few rooms. In the afternoon, i ran to church to help unload a trailer full of popcorn for the Boy Scout troop and after dinner, I went out to the Sebring Model Railroad Club to help with final preparations before the beginning of our open house. Table skirts were dug out of boxes and hung around the room, last minute tidying done, etc. Afterward, I headed over to the care facility where my Mom lives to wish her a happy 94th birthday. Of course, she wanted to know why I came "in the middle of the night." It was 7:00 pm. Saturday, I was up early, ran back to the club, and made sure that everyone had the cash that they needed for the day. Then back home to meet the painter again, and more homework, in the afternoon, back out for a short shift at the open house., and then out to dinner with my wife and my brothers (since one was visiting Mom from Indiana). Sunday was church, followed by lunch and the afternoon shift at the open house. Then home for dinner and being dog tired, maybe from the cold I'm still fighting, I headed to bed early. So far, our open house has welcomed a little less than 100 people. That's... okay, but a little disappointing. Hopefully, this coming weekend will be better. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk

Thanks Boxcab! That is similar to the Boulder Creek Video. Boulder Creek didn't put as many coats on "small river scene", but then I like Frary's use of a final hard coat. I may combine the 2 methods. Appreciate the link, that is useful.
Glad to hear about a great show! Nice debris and scorches! Looks like everything is in order. (Maybe a file on the files?) I can visualize it too. I did not get on my Rolling Line either. Honey- do work = happy wife... (Let's try to work in a little more model railroading if we can.) Ran a couple of trains and an 18th Birthday. Not bad! With football, expect the unexpected. Water looks good. Fingernail sounds painful. Ninety-five percent is outstanding! I like "foamers"! The tank is fine addition. I hate the time change. Thirty-six footer! Cool! Open-house looks sharp! Notice: Kicking Assistant needed. As far as the two house project, I have decided to place them on a fenced "dirt lot". I have located the dirt material (sheet stock) and am making the board fencing. I should be done by Friday (the Model Railroad Angels willing). Have a warm and good week.
Made it to the swap meet! My only hobby-related plan for the weekend. I wrote it was a "Train Show" on Friday. It was actually the Boeing Employees Moder Railroad Club Swap Meet. No layouts or such. It was a very good swap meet, too, in my opinion. Having said that, I only bought one thing. After perusing all the tables, I sat down for a cup of coffee. When I got up, this was on a shelf right in front of me. $10. Merry Christmas! I have all of the regular ornaments in this Hallmark series. I usually hang the latest releases on the tree and then put them on display. Or at least I did when I had a display room. Need to solve the space problem. I find myself in a bit of a contradiction these days. I really look forward to, and always enjoy attending, shows. I peruse every vendor table. Sometimes making a second lap in the opposite direction. The contradiction is, I have a very short shopping list. My current hobby phase, compared with many years ago, is much more narrowly focused. Fewer prototypes. More restrictive era. Still really enjoy looking over all those tempting goodies laid out on the tables. I do recommend the Boeing Meet if you find yourself in the Northwest in November. Stay safe,
