Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a great weekend, and you were able to get a lot accomplished. Let's dive in.

Saturday: As expected, I got up at 5:00am and got ready to go to the local RC swap meet. I was on the road a little past 7:00 and the wind was horrendous! I could watch the needle on the Jeep's gas gauge move as Jess hauled the box trailer. I took five loads on model projects I no longer have time to complete with the goal of not necessarily making money but getting the models to someone who would appreciate them and finish them. By 11:45 I was down to a few boxes and my mission was 90% successful. A few items that were left were donated to the club. Once home I dropped the trailer and went to the box store to pick up a shelf and brackets for the layout. We finished the night with friends at the local Legion for the FFA Trivia Night. A good time was had by all.

Sunday: I slept in for the first time in almost three weeks. I did very little as I have been busy with shows and work the past few weeks and with a busy short week this week, I decided too just be lazy.

So how about you? What did you get done? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Wednesday the 23rd, due to the American holiday of Thanksgiving. Until then, have a good short week if you are having one, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

And - just like that -- it's Monday!!

Progress on our deck is slow -- prep work is now complete. Next weekend -- paint.

    No MRRing -- bummer.

    Y'all have a great week,
    Wolf

Good morning all. And, Happy Thanksgiving week!!!

The weekend went exactly as anticipated. Did a little modeling Saturday AM and Sunday AM, mostly sprucing up scenery. Also put a couple of layers of Mod Podge for waves on the river scene and 2 good coats of clear, high-gloss acrylic varnish. The bulk of the time was spent jump-starting the Christmas decorations and helping the Mrs. with thissa and thatta.

Here's to all having a great and peaceful Thanksgiving week.

I went to the Wilmington, Mass, train show. Picked up a couple of "shelf-kept" locos for the stable and some scenery stuff.

Met one of the N Scale TTrak module pioneers, Fay Chin (although I didn't realize it at the time) and saw his fantastic modules. Very personable fellow. Could have talked to him all day long if he wasn't busy promoting the hobby with his excellent presentations on various aspects of MR'ing. Mainly arduino, lighting, and animatronics.

If there was anyting to be done with LED's, it was exampled on his 32' x 14' modular layout.

I'm with Wolf, finding it hard to believe it's already Monday. The weekend was good.

We had an enjoyable day doing a college tour Saturday. My son really liked the place.

Sunday afternoon, I did get to spend a couple of hours in the train room. Got metal wheel sets installed on a dozen cars (1 M/T boxcar, 2 M/T grain hoppers, and the rest were assorted coal hoppers). Test ran each car for a while on the layout to make sure i didn't make any mess with them. Next up, I got started on trying to remove some graffiti decals from a pair of covered hoppers without ruining the paint underneath. Think I am going to have to give in and order a set of decals and just redo the one side on each car.

Here's hoping you all have a great week and Happy Thanksgiving! One of my many things to be thankful for this year is all the great folks right here on TrainBoard.

I had a busy and productive weekend around the house. Saturday, my daughter and I reorganized the garage and put away all the outdoor furniture. I still have the canvas roof to take off the backyard gazebo. We got the cabinet under the kitchen sink cleaned out and reorganized. There was a lot of “When was the last time we used this?” questions asked. Sunday was a recovery day. We changed the table clothes for Thanksgiving and did some laundry.

Unfortunately, due to the house chore productivity the modeling suffered. On Sunday I did get to run my new Bachmann Spectrum PRR K4 with four Broadway Limited PRSL P70 coaches. At first things we frustrating as the tender kept uncoupling from the coaches at one of my trouble spots. Checked the tender coupler and the coach coupler against the Kadee coupler gauge. The coach was correct but the tender coupler was a little low and was also an EZ-Mate coupler. Changed out the coupler with a Kadee #147 (whisker with a medium underset shank). Everything worked perfectly afterwards. Ran the train for a good hour and even got some video.

Very quit and cold weekend. At least we did not get the big snow. Will be starting to try rearrange the simple layout and think about adding to it. I'll make a final payment to the hospital and the legal cost are much lower. So in January I can change dreams into reality.

    Good morning all,

While many of you have snow falling, we still have leaves falling here. With numerous trees on our property I have been raking leaves until my shoulders were sore. I did continue work on the helix and it's getting close to being done. On the gondola project I got as far as stripping the original paint.

Then worked on some problems I've had with the sensors in the staging yard that are for train automation. Some adjustments were made in the positioning and that made a big improvement.

Then on Sunday I went on a 4 mile hike on a hill near me where I had seen a large satellite dish.

Ninety percent. Cool! Yes. It is Monday! I recently put Mod Podge on a finger cut. Thirty-two by fourteen foot! Cool! (y) I am not fond of graffiti myself. Run (and corrected) a K4. More cool! Dreams into reality. :) Train watching counts. ;) When I lived out in the country, I actually figured out how not to rake leaves. Gons gonna' be cool. We won't tell anyone about the "visit" to the radar array/alien landing site. :sneaky: Work so often gets in the way. Period. Still seeing laundry reports too. I also accomplished little. Saturday, I was in Jefferson, GA, for a rabbit show. In the interest of staying on topic, no details will follow. Sunday was recuperate from the four-traffic tie-up drive day. I do have a good bit fence fabricated. I still need a little more. So that is what will be worked on. (y) Everyone, please have a great and safe Thanksgiving. Seems like we all have much to be thankful for. :D

Good afternoon from sunny and cold Northeast Ohio!

Friday bowling was the pits, we got swept as only two of us were above average for the night. Did manage to get a R70-20 Reefer painted along with the roof of a R70-15 Reefer.

Saturday, had a good club meeting and operating session then did some modeling work as described below, along with masking the roof on the R70-15 Reefer before adding the final details, doing the painting and masking first decreased the breakage on the fine detail parts if done later.

I am also working on changing the details on a Brian Everett special run of Accurail DT&I boxcars in the 18100 class. This was the closest car to the prototype, but have to change the door from 8' to 9' and remove the grabs and replace with ladders which I have done. I have to mask the car to preserve the lettering as it is correct then touch up the changed parts with BN Cascade Green paint.

Sunday finished the details on the R70-15 and it is ready for painting during the week, also put on the first coat of paint on a Pennsy N5a cabin car will be letting it dry for a while before masking. Started decaling the R70-20.

Got my N Scale Kato highway crossings installed as seen in the photo below. These are no longer made by Kato and through the kindness of TrainBoard members, I was able to buy what I needed at very fair cost. The orange lines kinda show where the roads will be. I thought I wouldn't have any room for roads and crossings, so I'm very happy that this came to be.

I converted another car to metal wheels and body-mount couplers, installed a whole lot of grab irons, and spent some quality time on the floor searching for a dropped locomotive window. Miraculously, I actually found it!

Well I finished up some projects I started a couple of weeks ago and started a new one.

Last things first I painted some woodchip hoppers for eventually patching for MWCX. I’ve got some BN and NP decals coming for four of these five, which I’ll weather after I apply before I patch. The 5th just needs a patch.

I also finished patching some “ex-Maersk” well cars, weathering a few containers, and then a few 53’ wells.

As expected, Friday, I did homework but I did sneak out in the evening while my wife was at work to buy a birthday card and balloons.

Saturday, being my wife's birthday, included a little homework, but was mostly dedicated to doing whatever she wanted to do. Y'all know what happens if you don't keep Mama happy (but she puts up with me anyway). I did make an early run to get gas, then to the Sebring Model Railroad Club to make sure everyone had the cash that they needed for the last weekend of our open house, then pick up flowers at a real florist (and not Walmart) on the way home.

Sunday, was church, then out to the train club for the remainder of the open house and make sure all of the money got locked up. I probably won't get out to count it until this upcoming weekend. It looks like we had a decent attendance (though not great) with something like 270 adult (paying) visitors and a great many "free under 12" including all of local Cub Scout pack 102, and their parents, who all seemed to enjoy themselves. This is the first year that we only counted adults and, in retrospect, it seems obvious that we need a separate count for adults and youth. After we locked up the club, I had dinner, and finally finished my homework at about 11:30 pm (which is actually earlier than I expected).

On a side note, while going through our parents' stuff, last year my siblings assembled all of their Christmas decorations and set them out for all of the children and grandchildren to take what they wanted. Most of the leftovers were donated to the church but I kept all of Dad's train themed Christmas decorations, including a bunch of Hallmark ornaments. I kept a few, but we put them on the table during the open house priced as "make an offer." It wasn't a big pile, but while the concessions made something like $150 over two weekends, that little pile of ornaments made over $60 on its own. I have a few left and may post them for sale on the Swap Meet forum if anyone is interested.

I started working on a Southern Pacific short frame H12-4-4 switcher, and I was removing the rapido coupler when I broke the truck frame
