Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a great weekend and got a lot done. Let's see everyone's report.

Saturday: I got up at 5:30 and headed to the big box store and picked up more hardboard, glue and other supplies and got home right before 8:00am. With breakfast out of the way, I started by cutting the skyboard and installing it. I then shifted gears and worked on the corner module as the first one never really came out as expected. A lot of hikes from the garage to the layout upstairs but by the end of the day, I had a much better corner module. I then promised Ang a night of Christmas shopping and a nice dinner.

Sunday: As many of you have noted, there is little time for trains this month due to Christmas. I spent the day finally getting the yard raked then got the many bins of Christmas items out of the attic. With the yard cleaned up, Ang and I started decorating until the windchill and darkness forced us inside. We enjoyed a nice dinner while watching a Christmas movie and then poof, the weekend was over.

So how about you? Did you have better luck in getting things accomplished? Let us know. We'll come back on Friday the 9th to start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

    Sorry! Nothing got done here.
Except this mornings Green Bay News announced that a local train club had a big display for the Menasha/Neenah Historical Society on Sunday. Only trouble is that there was no announcement of it and I could have ridden my bicycle there. If there would have been advertisements. :(:(

Unfortunately I can't "like" that post, that is frustrating! Sorry you missed out and insult to injury is that you could have done it without petrol.

    Good morning to Y'all,

@Shortround - I agree with Jim, - Can't hit the like button for your post. You are correct - a little advertising would have went a long way.

I did manage to get some MRRing in.

Both days - worked on my new project. Molded on details were removed. Holes drilled. Some new details added.
    Photos in the future.

    Y'all have a great week!

Went to a train show on Saturday....picked up a new to me GP18 with the Norfolk Western roadname and a few scenery items; WS Flowers, N Scale chainlink fence (can't have too much), plaster cloth, some weathering powders.....

    ....In 2023 I resolve to get my 2' x 4' N Scale Empire underway.

Not only are we heading into the homestretch before Christmas, I am at the end of an academic semester. Friday, and pretty much the entire week before that, I have been doing homework and research for the 20 page paper that I have due a week from today. In the evening, our daughter, and their two dogs, came to stay with us for the weekend so that she, could get some lessons on baking Christmas cookies from her Mom (ie. my wife, obv.).

Saturday I continued doing research and homework and in the background there was a lot of baking going on, and of course, cookie tasting. In the evening we all drove over to our city's Silver Park to see the Christmas lights, eat free food, and watch the annual Christmas tree lighting.

Sunday was church with most of the service given to our music department with many numbers from our vocal choir and two bell choirs, then off to train club for our monthly meeting and our recap of our November open house, then, more cookies, and worked on this week's homework so that I can spend most of the week writing the research paper.

And, as you probably have gathered, since my paper has to be done by next Monday, there won't be any train stuff going on this week or next weekend. The good news, however, is that once that is complete, there will be a few weeks before the next semester starts so I some small hope that I might get a few things done before I get thrown back into the grind.

You should do your paper on model railroading. Win win.

    Good Monday morning all,

We had a wet, rainy weekend here and I was able to spend a good amount of time in the train room. Was able to complete most of what I planned to get done. Got all the turnouts installed at the top of the helix and the main line is now complete. Only track left to do are the pair of stub end staging tracks which will extend out to the left in this photo. Two tortoise motors and all of the feeder were installed. Also mounted the PSX-AR on the wall near in between the upper and lower helix's. The wire I ordered did not show up until Sunday evening so did not get everything hooked up for a test run.

Also worked on the design of the control panel for this area of the layout.

Good morning all. Weekend went exactly as I thought. A lot of decorating got finished and I helped the Mrs with several things. Betwixt and between I was able to finish some track cleaning; took care of a few electrical gremlins that reared their ugly heads recently, and basically did some organizing to better tidy up the train room. Not a lot, but did what I could in the time I had.

    Have a great week all!!

Friday, bowling was a mixed bag two bad games and one good one.

Saturday, Had the club open for visitors in the afternoon, not many people showed up with the good weather but they appreciated the layout. I ran my Wabash Bluebird passenger train which ran well. In the evening watched the last episode of “Wednesday” then worked on decalling the two cars I am doing for the club gift exchange.

Sunday, more of the same with laundry thrown in.

Yep! Poof! It's gone! o_O @Shortround, I "like" that you posted. I agree w/ Mr. Wiggin. Poor communication is the bane of all of us. I love new projects! New Year's goal. Cool! (y) @Pastor John, maybe you could wear an engineer's cap whilst you do homework? ;) I still say the helix (and related equipment) looks like a work of art. :) Down with gremlins! :sneaky: The Bluebird! Cool! I just finished trying to prep the pasture fence for mounting. It...looks...N A S T E E !!:oops: I must now return to the drawing board. :( Fortunately, I have another idea about how to make the fence. We shall see. Have a great, dry and safe week. :D

Happy Monday! Got all my errands done before lunch on Saturday. Then, didn't get much time to work on trains. Sat down and the workbench and unpacked my ne W/S light hub and power supply. Got it plugged in and tested the W/S traffic lights I got a couple of weeks ago. I also found that the Rapido New Look bus lights will work wired through the W/W hub. That was all I had time for before the wife came down and wanted me to help getting the Christmas stuff out. Sunday afternoon, was lunch out and then we went to the Kircus de Soul. Was an entertaining show. With that, the weekend was gone. This morning, I did get my desk at the office decorated for Christmas.

Very busy weekend outside of trains. Didn’t get the decorations up as my “helpers” had other plans. But everything else is handled. Now it’s rainy so it may have to wait until next weekend.

I found time to decal my C&D hoppers. The reporting marks on all the cars are homemade-I’m trying to match prototypes as much as I can, except for the ex-BNSF with the logo on the side.

Decided not to waste the ink and decal paper so I used up some to make patches for some MTL weathered airslides. I like the look of old airslides, but since my era is ~2010-2020 (kind of) I’m just going to rule 1 it and patch them over.

As expected, work came first. Atop that, I decided to come down with a head cold. Good grief. I have not sneezed this much in years! I did manage to get the parts out of the box for my engine house. When finished I have a paint scheme in mind. Trying to remember how I mixed that combination, as it has been a few years. Discovered I will need to replace one bottle. That was it for me this "weekend". :(

I have not done much in the way of layout work recently, although I did clean off my modeling workbench. That was done in preparation for my family Christmas party last weekend. We cooked and prepped for 30 people. It was a great day and most of my family had never seen my layout, so it was fun to show it off a bit and especially fun to watch some of the younger kids running a 42 car freight train around the layout. I am kicking myself for not taking photos of that! I did at least get a photo of my modeling workbench. I have the same LED lighting over my workspace, as I do over the layout, to help me with color matching.

Great idea about the lighting-is that a cement industry immediately above your desk? Would like to read/see more about it (and the rest of your layout) if you’ve got a build thread somewhere

    Sunday/Monday

Cover plates mounted on the lower level. Laid the first tracks to the staging yard. The first spike has been hammered in.

Thank you. I don't have a build thread on Trainboard at this time. I will probably start one soon.

The industry above the workbench represents Specialty Minerals, in Canaan, CT. It is one of the Housatonic Railroad's largest customers. Specialty Minerals mines and processes a unique form of dolomite limestone for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and building materials. Here is one more shot of my N-scale version. The overall plant is about 7.5' long, not counting the switching lead. Ballast and scenery had not been completed yet on the switching lead to the right of the plant when I took this photo. The white boulders and stone dust are actually from the prototype facility location.
