I just received my first Z scale DC loco and it won't move even though headlight dims and brightens with voltage change. My MRC Railpower 1300 powerpack works fine with my HO scale locos. I bought the loco new from woo woo woo woo woo woo and have just emailed them and AZL for advice/return/refund. Suggestions?

    Thanks.

Could be the board is out of place. Take shell off and resetting the circuit board will probably do it.

    Try resetting the circuit board.

Are you using a MRC 1300 that has been modified by micro trains for Z scale use. ( it will have a yellow label on the front that looks like this? http://www.zscalemonster.com/mrc/mrc-mtl-500-195.jpg

or a unmodified version? with the black face.?

Z scale locomotives run on 8 to 12 volt if you used the unmodified MRC 1300 with out the yellow label and put full power to the rails you may have fried the motor.

Yes, try to reseat the pc board. It’s probably not touching the motor contacts.

The modified power pack has a screw to limit how far you can turn the knob, about 2 o’clock, as designated on the label.
Thats the only difference from the factory model.

Hello and welcome to Z! Most likely a slightly loose PCB. They can look seated, but a minor touch can solve the issue. With us shipping in cold weather, we are seeing an increase in loose PCBs. I am not sure who that dealer is that you purchased it from. Also, I haven't received an email yet. My email is sales@ztrack.com

Here is another video with tips for the F3s and F7s.

Thanks Rob. As I advised in a private email, I followed the video, reseated the PCB, and the loco now works perfectly. Great customer service!
