Bachmann 4-6-4 Hudson N Gauge with Econami Sound Value

Programmed with DCC++ using decoder Pro. Set speed steps and some sound levels and started getting a clanking noise when coming to a stop. Reset the speed steps (no change) Functions F5 and F6 are supposed to turn it on and off while running which they DO, but it makes that sound every time it comes to a stop.

Tried Factory reset setting in decoder Pro but got 308 error. Set CV30 to 2 and it reset (CV8 cannot be written to). Same thing. Annoying clanking noise when it comes to a stop.

How can I get rid of it.

    Thanks,
    John

Go to Decoder Pro and set the Rod Clank volume to 0 or to a lower volume that isn't so obnoxious . <<<Easy way. This is part of the DDE settings I think so the correct way to to change it ,at least on a full feature Tsunami decoder , is to reduce the rod clank vol in DDE . I am not sure how to do this on an Econami decoder though , and don't have Decoder Pro in front of me right now . Mike

Is it the simulation of the side rods clanking? Doesn’t each sound have a volume control? I know my regular Tsunamis do. Shout out to Kieth Robinson.

In the factory-installed Economi decoder found in the SoundValue 2-8-0, the rod clank volume is controlled by CV 135. The factory default for CV 135 in the 2-8-0 is 80. Looking back at my archived settings (I replaced the factory decoder with a Tsunami 2 Steam 2 in an MRC Vandy tender), I reset CV 135 to 40.

Thanks for all the responses. I really appreciate that.

I'll try all of these and thanks a lot Mike for the reference guide. I am reading it now trying to absorb it. I did notice on page 13 references to Locked and Unlocked CVs. Maybe that's why CV8 is read only. I am not sure of only writing CV30=2 completely reset the decoder when supposedly both CV30=2 and CV8=8 must be done.

I'll post back when I get done messing with this.

Again, thanks for all the help.
