What now ? https://brooklynlocomotiveworks.com/ It looks as if we deal with The N-Scale Division - Main, N SCALE SUPPLY, Wig-Wag, LLC Home Page and a few others. Tom
Purchased stuff from Pete before the internet was 'a thing'. He was a great source for most of my early N scale items. Very sad to see him have to retire due to his serious health issues.
I had thought Pete had already backed away, and another family member had taken over? I quit buying from them years ago, after an incident of an undelivered pair of pre-ordered engines, and how it was not handled. I used to be a regular customer, going way back before the Internet, when he and Lee Elder out on the west coast, were THE places to go for discount mail order.
Hog Trains kind of took over, but not really since their website is not nearly as good and focuses on HO and G (as I recall). BLW was my 'go to' dealer for just about everything N scale for years and tears (until he stopped getting new products in).
Some folks really liked dealing with Pete. Some didn't. I did. For years/decades I used him for many, many Kato preorders. I always got my stuff. I only had two issues over many years, and he resolved them quickly. None of this "you have to take it up with the manufacturer" crap. I wish you well Pete and extend a hardy THANKS! for many years of fantastic service.
Pete's brother (Paul) ran his website for scales larger than N & Z. When Pete discovered the severity of his illness; and, all of its trials and tribulations, he arranged for Paul to start transitioning his site to include N & Z scales. Pete's wife also worked with him on the N & Z through an eBay account. I'm sure she assisted Pete in many BLW tasks as well.
Even though I never met Pete in person, he was like a friendly neighbor always there to lend a hand. If ever a mistake was made on an order, he would be quick to fix the issue. He would take back unsatisfactory items instead of the 'take it up with the manufacturer' that was common among most e-tailers. Most of those 'Damaged Depot' items were models which were returned for refund or replacement. I have purchased several of those 'dinged' items over the years. I will miss Pete's BLW... but will try to keep in touch with him periodically. Wishing him hope that a cure can be found so he can enjoy his golden years.
