Welcome back everyone to the gateway to the weekend. Looks like last weekend was busy for all of us. Congratulations Pastor John on the new addition to your family and thank you to your son for his service. Let's see where our weekends take us this first weekend of February.

Friday: After last weekend I have today off. I plan to finally sit down and see all the HO and N scale items I picked up last weekend at the Amherst show then head into my favorite hardware store for layout supplies. I also need to stop into my not so local hobby shop and pick up my CB&Q NW2 that Tom the owner installed a keep alive in. Once home I'll stay inside and work on the N scale layout then spend the evening with the Mrs. and the dogs.

Saturday: I'll be spending more time on the N scale layout. I'll concentrate my efforts on track laying and hooking up servo motors for the turnouts. I'll probably spend some time with the Mrs. too as work has kept us busy and apart for the past few weeks.

Sunday: It is supposed to be close to 50 degrees, so I need to pull the Falcon out and clean up the garage and see about getting the curved portion of my backdrop done on the HO scale layout. It is the major project that is holding me up from progressing. I have a design in my head, so now I need to transfer that to paper then finally to hardboard and hope the finished product matches what is in my head. Depending on how far I get with this project, I plan to work on my wiring and lighting as well.

So how about you? What do you have planned for this weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday, February 6th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

I’ve been out of town for work for a couple of weeks and the power will be out for maintenance on Saturday. Pretty exhausted-a slow weekend might be in order. I may do a little weathering on some containers and woodchip hoppers. We’ll see.

    Happy Friday to Y'all!!

I plan on giving my FA/FB's a lite weathering - then call 'em ready for service.

    Then -- my plans - ?
Perhaps start the bench work for a 2' X 8' diorama I have been wanting to do. -

OR - get some much needed modeling done on my layout. It's been way to long.

Of course, this is after doing oil changes on both of our vehicles. And some other small honey-do's

    Y'all have a great weekend,
    Wolf

Happy Friday All! Still feeling a bit under the weather and have a long day at work today so tonight I plan to turn in early. If I feel up to it Saturday, will probably work on some freight cars at the workbench. Found a couple of packs of metal wheels so there is a half dozen cars that can be updated. Have a pair of boxcar loads that I can install, still need to finish up the truck frame loads and attach them to a flat. Also got an item this week that might work as a good flat car or gondola loads so will experiment with that. Sunday afternoon will be rest time for a busy week at work next week.

Here's hoping you all have a great weekend!

It's not a complicated plan for this weekend. Homework will consume almost all of my time, but Sunday will be church (of course), followed by the monthly business meeting for the Sebring Model Railroad Club where I will present the finance report and the latest brass plaque on our memorial wall honoring a deceased member.

After the meeting, a friend (and prospective member) is bringing a Loco that he recently converted to DCC. He's not happy with the reliability of its voltage pickup so we'll look to see if we can simplify and improve it somehow. We'll also look at how new Kadee couplers might be mounted.

Otherwise, I have several projects gathering dust on my workbench in the event that I somehow manage to get through my homework early.

Today on the way home I have to drop my car off for state inspection and an oil change. On the way back from the dealer my wife and I will meet up with my daughter and grab dinner. The weekend will be spent inside doing chores and finally getting the Christmas tree down and put away.

I could have worked on Saturday but with the car in the shop I have no transportation. I might have to work Sunday. The project designer is taking soil borings to locate the bedrock in the area where a proposed wall is planned. If they don’t finish Saturday I might have to go in Sunday for a few hours.

I really want to run trains but I can’t. The layout is currently filled with organized boxcar box piles. I am ready to put the 40 foot wood boxcars and 60 foot boxcars in bins. I still have some 40 foot steel and 50 foot boxcars to finish tuning up before I can put them away.

Good morning all and welcome to the weekend!

This weekend I have some home maintenance chores to deal with. Change out all the HVAC filters, replace 2 louvers in a plantation shutter, as well as gather all of my old Model Railroader mags. I have found a club that wants to take them to complete their library as well as sell at shows any extras. I have been "itchin" to give these away so I intend on getting them together and out of here ASAP. Strike while the iron is hot and all that good stuff.

On the layout I will probably perform the final, small amount of work on the framing of the layout extension I put in last weekend. Also hope on working more on the elevated bridge itself. The other thing I'd like to do is get out the building kits I will "kitbash" together to make up the LCL depot which will be the feature of this new extension. Ambitious weekend, we'll find out Monday how much of it gets done.

Stay warm and have a great weekend all!!

Good morning from cold, windy and snowy Northeast Ohio. One bad day before a week in the 50’s.

Today, hope to paint a boxcar and strip off the masking from a caboose before going to bowling. Right now at the Retina Specialist for my wife to see if she can have her cataract surgery next month.

Saturday, going to the club and we are going to attempt to change out the warped truck on my Rapido PA-1. later I will work on decalling the caboose and boxcar while working on assembling some car kits.

Sunday, continuing work on decalling and kit assembly.

    Another weekend cometh...

    Friday:
Spend the day with Mrs. Moose doing whatever Mrs Moose says, which will include a trip to IKEA for bathroom remodeling ideas and lunch out. Yeah! :)

    Saturday:
Continue scratch-building an SP&S D-5 tender shell, NP Z-4 tender and version two of the dreaded GN A-9 locomotive shell... :cautious:

    Sunday:
Perhaps if it doesn't rain -- and if Moose can find the keys -- fire up the Harley... :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

A curved backdrop looks very realistic. (y) We all need down time. ;) FA/FB's comin' down the pike. :) @BNSF FAN, be sure to get you some rest. Dust on the workbench. I can relate. Can't run trains. Reminds me that my cousin had to get his wife to move her stuff off his train table so he could start building his layout. I love "LCL"! One thing about Northeast Ohio, it is consistent. Ah, the "tenderizer" cometh. :p This past week, I began working on foliage and retro fitting some porch rails on the bungalow. I am unhappy to say that nothing is working right at this point. Well, maybe a bush is coming together. :cautious: We shall see. Family time this weekend may preclude model railroading. We shall see. Have fun. Be warm. Be safe. :D

    Good morning all,

With only a week to go before leaving for Japan, not much modeling planned this weekend. I may take all the rolling stock off the layout and put it away. Then when we return, I'll be able to clean the layout and track without having to shuffle things around.

I am "on call" to provide transportation for my mother-in-law. If that happens, model railroading will be limited to seeking out materials for some workspace storage projects that I have planned. Otherwise, I am moving forward with the driver conversion project. Just cut these:
    IMG_2605 (2).JPG

Later I will trim the tabs and test the fit in my prototype driver. The quality is very close to what I want. These are card stock. The next step is adapting the settings to a thicker material and testing the fit again. Since I don't have a daily plan, it is a matter of pushing through the steps in the time I have available. I will report my progress on Monday.

    Stay safe,

Hopefully paint the front of the 2' x 4' base? I've only had the post it note on it for about 4 weeks now, and it is probably a 15 minute job at best. Me lazy I guess? Continue working on lights, etc... on the C&L Layout also?

    Hey All,

I am planning to finish up this project. Decals and weathering on a 34-ft K.C. Fort Scott & Memphis (Frisco System) 34-ft boxcar. This is a Bitter Creek Models kit and the decals are custom printing from Precision Design Co. Hope you have a good one!

Working on what I hope is the last chapter in scenic foamwork on the N Scale DS&N RR, adding an embankment to a track that's on a grade with a curve. When that's done, the train room will receive a major cleanup and thorough vacuuming.

Welcome all to the 1st weekend of our shortest month. I have been "missing in action" for a good 2-2.5 months as I have been dealing with a very ill wife.

On Monday 1/9/23 she fell and hit her head on the tile floor in our master bath and I sent her to ER via 911. She spent 2 days in ER and then 1 week in a room. She has been in a skilled nursing center since 02/17 and is still there today. She has improved very well and is getting close to coming home.

I shall not attempt to explain what I and our kids have been through with "Sundowners Syndrome" and "UTI's". Very scary issues, so if you are not familiar with these may I suggest that you Google and read about both. I had no clues until this happened. I almost lost her. Since mid October I have picked her up off the floor 9 times.

SO, my coming days are dedicated to getting her home with me as we will celebrate 60 years of marriage on 2/15/23.

I am sorry, no train plans, but talking about the past really helps me cope.

Ya'll have a great weekend and pay special attention to your family.

Carl you have our prayers and hopes for a good outcome. I know how hard it is to care for someone suffering from those illnesses from personal experience with my father-in-law. Dementia is a horrible thing to experience not just for the person going through it but also for the caregivers. My one piece of advice is to care for her but also make sure you care for yourself. If you are not well you cannot care your loved one. Luckily for me my FIL doctor was also my doctor. When he visited my FIL he checked me out also and I was reminded to watch my health and make sure I took a break every so often. God bless.

Prayers to your wife and you, Carl.

My wife and I are going thru the same situation with her mother, good days and bad days.

Like others have said, it's hard to think of yourself at these times, but you try to stay healthy-mentally and physically.
