Why bother with chasing your pet dog, cat, or ferret around the house and getting bit, scratched and maybe even wet on as you try to remove their hairs?......you can purchase stainless steel wire in such small diameters that you can hardly see them with the naked eye. Only paint will make it show up. And I vote for yellow also.
CSXT 707 Authority: MoW Project Con't. I went back and found what I think is a pretty good solution to correct the original over-sized front bumper whips I made for my Showcase Miniatures MoW trucks; I decided to use BLMA MU hoses. [ref. pictures]. ..:csx yellow and international orange to please the people:.. These particular trucks were made by Álvaro Cortes; all I did here was add my painted front bumper whips - just a dab of CA. And I must admit to those who suggested animal hair, one of my ferrets whiskers and hair do look like they would make excellent whips, wiring, or cables...I just couldn't bring myself to do it; your welcome PETA. ...to be continued.
CSXT 707 Authority: MoW Project Con't. Finished my Showcase Miniatures MoW Truck kits [#4003] a few weeks ago and here is how they turned out; for the most part they are complete...other than a few touch-ups still needed here n' there.
Great looking vehicles Arnie. Don't forget to order the new rearview mirrors from Showcase Miniatures.
well the weather is getting warmer and the days are getting longer so it's easier to get out to the workshop now. current projects include finishing off the other two Greenville woodchips I got from Gerd, adding some wrapped lumber loads to the 60ft and 73 ft centrebeams (thanks for putting the artwork in the mag, Rob) rigging Stonysmith's brownhoist crane and making a starrt on the Alco FA1 from designer Snowyriver on Shapeways. This is made in strong flexible white pastic not the usual FUD, which is certainly not as brittle, but was very grainy and porous. there is certainly quite a lot on the Shapeways forum about using it and painting it effort so far has been in spraying with light coats of Hycote acrylic plastic primer and gently sanding with home made sanding sticks to lose the striations from the prinitng process, at least with the grey primer it is easier to see where to smooth it off the body is designed to fit the MTL F7 chassis and drops straight on and looks fine even with Blomberg trocks on but I'm going to use modded F7 truck frames with Hallmark turbine truck overlays Oviously I'm going to add a lot more details Fans, grill etc and decide what color scheme to do it. However by sheer coincidence this lates edition of Classic trains has a 14 page article about every railroad to buy Alco FAs! spoilt for choice now, can't decide whether to go East end to tie in with my NKP stuff (Wabash, Erie, NYC or Pennsy?) or go West end (U.P, SP&S or CP) to run on Shasta Keep you posted on progress Kev
Hello people , I'm working on the expansion of the High Franks Division , Interchancemodul 29 With best regards Peter
You do great work Peter. Your modules are so big and long, and it makes it perfect to run long trains.
Nice looking layout. Lots room to run train with lot great looking scenery. Thanks for sharing some eye candy.
Now the show season halted for the summer I,m pressing on with a few projects First up is the Snowy river Alco FA 3d printed by Shapeways which is designed to fit the MTL F7 chassis. It was printed in SWF which was quite grainy so I used multiple coats of Hycote plastic primer rubbed down between each coat. Top coat is Ford Signal Yellow and decals are from Microscale sheet 60-522 side grills were scanned in off drawing and printed on to clear waterslide sheet truck side frames are from Hallmark Turbine and are slightly too big really but look better than aBlomberg. Still to do is detail on fan housing, exhaust and air horns, wings on U.P herald on nose. flush glazing and I'm tempted to make the apereture for the front couple a bit smaller if possible Kev
Nice FA Kevin! Why did you get it in SWF when its availiable in FUD? I scrapped my last Z 2x4 layout because I just didnt like the way it was turning out. So I'm starting something new. This time Im using Gatorfoam for the base and Great Stuff gap filler for the foam. I just covered the base with Great Stuff. This stuff is pretty cool. Its like spraying the layout with a can of whipped cream. Wear disposible gloves when working with Great Stuff, and apply it outside if you can. Curn
On that picture with the track, is that tabe going to be the base? It looks great almost a perfect fit!
really nice looking engine as usual Kev Now for a FB unit to go with it. THen I would have a definitive Canadian road diesel of the 80's
