    Yeah,

They are brass and very pricey! Very Nice, mind you, but pricey.

The cheaper injection molded plastic ones when they are released are going to be less expensive - by more than half, so keep checking back! [IMG]

P.S. Just a word of warning, If you do keep lurking around looking at the pictures of these brass locos long enough, the temptation to buy one might become to great! It happened to me. :D [IMG] :D

I model any train that looks good to me. I will probably mix all kinds of eras, I guess that is just me. I like the silver streamlined passenger cars like the Santa Fe, Amtrack, and the orient express. I prefer steams than modern ones.

I want the cab forward real bad but had to hold off, I guess if I see one I will cross the line and start cutting back on basic necessities.

Rob please let me know when your cab forward shows up, I dont want to find out it is sold out after I see one and desperately want it.

    Hemi,

I have to tell you that the AZL F45 is worth the money. It's a wonderful runner, and it has the 10mm motor insted of the 8mm, which provides for excellent pulling power in combination with the all brass construction. I know the price seems high, but once you buy one, you understand why, and then you want MORE!

    :D

Luckily, I have no desire for an AZL brass loco, since none of them were on the Alaska :D (Well, there's the E8...) I do eventually want 3 MTL GP35's though, and turn one of them into a GP30 > [IMG]

Do you mean AZL is going to re-release some of their brass models in plastic? I thought they said they weren't going to do that, at least not in the next couple years, choosing instead to make engines that have never been available in Z.

    Triplex,

For right now, you're right, AZL will not be rereleasing the previous brass models in plastic, but it is a real possibility in the future.

The less expensive ones being released next month are the brand new SD70s in NS paint, with UP and CNR to follow in the coming months.

Thanks for clearing that up Bryan. The SD70's were the locos that I was referring to. But, as Bryan has already said, hopefully we will see rereleases in plastic of some of the brass models. Though probably not in the near future [IMG] - and definitely not until all the brass ones of a particular run are sold out. :(

Well, the F45 that Bryan has played with is actually mine. ;)

I have to say that this is my favorite Z scale loco of all the locos I have whether it be AZL, MTL or Marklin (I've even got one from Schmidt in Germany).

It is a beauty, it runs and pulls great and the speed is matched very well with MTL's GP35's and can be MU'd with them as well as other AZL units.

While I TRY to stick with NS as my main theme, I have a soft spot for ATSF since that's what I watched as a kid while visiting my grandparents in Southern California. Aome of my favorite regionals/shortlines like MRL, WC and NYSW ended up with these as well, but I wouldn't dream of repainting my blue-bonnet.

Randy, you are mistaken. The Kez, trying to make it sound like the Fonz, is performing a prototypical train operation. ;)

Well, the SD45 and SD40T-2 are sold out... from AZL's perspective. As we were discussing, retailers still have a couple left.
