Yeah, I know that I am a day early but I will be off the grid for the next few days. Post now or whenever you want. A little history behind the prototype locomotives. RS-3 #4082 started out as Northern Pacific #858. 4068 was Great Northern 231 and then SP&S 83 before getting the BN paint.
Good morning from partly cloudy and mild Northeast! I managed to finish a couple of cars this week! First up is the Moloco GATC RBL that I modified to fit the DT&I car I wanted to model. I contacted Nick Molo and asked which of his kits would match the DT&I car so I managed to acquire one. I lowered all the ladders and brake gear as the car was built in 1968 and would not have a roofwalk. Also the DT&I car did not have ladders all around like the kit, so I replaced the ladder at one end with Kadee grab irons. Car was painted with Scalecoat II Armour Yellow, Boxcar Red and Silver paints and lettered with a mixture of Herald King and Mask Island decals. The 1090 above the reporting marks indicates the car was in canned good service for Campbell's Soup plant in Napoleon, OH. An Atlas Kit that was painted in my favorite covered hopper scheme, it was painted with Scalecoat II UP Covered Hopper Gray Paint and lettered with Mask Island Decals. The Wabash usually assigned these cars to the Archer Daniels Midland elevator in Decatur, IL. A GP35, C-424 and a U25B leading a mixed freight on the Strongsville Club layout. Thanks for looking! Nice Cascade green scene. SP S-1? Candy corn. It is to laugh! Interesting and sharp canned goods car. Cool covered hopper. WNW!
I got another couple mechanical reefers done for the QA&P. These are just old Athearn BB cars with, old DW cushion ends along with some very basic brake rigging added, and decals I made up. Still need to install the Plano cut bars, I add those last as they are so easily mangled. There are 0ver 65 different decals on each car, kinda graphic heavy, and is modeled after BN's Temp-Lok car. I have six of these in service now. QA&P 1005 And the 1006. Thanks for stopping by.
The streetlights have already come on as a BC Hydro switch crew finishes up the last few moves for the day.
Dang...my lunch and the coffee pot hit the floor. Track maintenance better clean up the mess. It's their fault.
