I still have searches that email me when certain items are listed, but it has to have been at least 6-12 months since I have bought anything on Ebay. It seems that even the things that I occasionally do bid on get snipped or run up to prices I'm just not willing to pay.
Out of curiosity here what do you all think about the $? 1. Atlas N Scale Santa Fe GP-30 Diesel Locomotive Engine #890 | eBay $39.99 is ATLAS / ROCO 2. Atlas N Scale 4065 GP-30 Diesel Locomotive Chessie System C&O Test Run Only | eBay $89.99 is ATLAS / ROCO 3. Atlas N Scale GP-9 Diesel Locomotive Santa Fe #2926 | eBay $74.99 is ATLAS / ROCO 4. Atlas N Scale GP-30 Diesel Loco #4061 in Santa Fe markings #800 | eBay $9.90 Is ATLAS / ROCO ..seems to be ? to average $. Tom
Yes, they are. A button now pops up. I think it started about a month ago? "Have an AI write your description!" They all sound exactly like what you quoted, truly awful.
I don't recall C&O/Chessie being a west coast road...also, while I'm willing to pay more for west coast roads, I wouldn't pay the asking price for any of those.
Next thing you know, we will be bidding against the AI whose goal it is to run up the prices...wait...maybe that is already in place
Remember my question on the Over/Under for when we'd first see the 2023 NSE Banquet Car? Well, we have a winner... and I think I would have blown the Over/Under on the final price. I'm a bit surprised at this, and also that the seller was a well-known "estate buyer"...
But wait! What's Over "Way Over"? Same seller... although to be fair, other listings are not quite that "Over"...
I'll be happy to contribute a carload* of bonus points!** *** * An N Scale carload. ** Bonus points are not redeemable for anything. *** It could be worse, the prize might be one of these...
It's almost impossible to look for SP engines/rolling stock/whatever on that site with all of the stupid Hi Speed cars. It's my understanding that if you list anything with Hi Speed in the description, it tells you that they aren't really 'n scale trains', but I don't know that for sure. Stupid Readers Digest freebie...
I suspect there are more of those abominations out there than every proper N scale locomotive model put together; there's really no escaping the Readers' Digest plague. Even if you figure out the magic combo of filters that stops them from being half the listings in every eBay search, every in-person acquaintance who finds out you model N scale always has 'a model train that might be N scale' they want you to check out for them. Surprise! It's always, ALWAYS a High Speed GP35.
I have quite a few of the "High Speed" stock, given to me by people who know I like trains. They were all free. Doug
We just had a buy & sell day at our club. There was an Atlas GP40 with DCC for AU$90 and one of those "High Speed" horrors for AU25 ......... I just don't understand how the 2 exist at the same place.
