Well, I made a video of the engine, but the barrier put up by YouTube for posting is too much, sorry.

Is it something new they're doing? I post on YouTube every week. Let me know if I can help.

Hi This is Google (of course). They want me to go through a Google account (do not have anything Google), then to YouTube, record and send them a 30 second video of me or a copy of my driver's license. So I told them to pound sand.

I went to a train show Saturday, mostly to see a friend there, to see the layouts, and to look for N scale items. I spent time with my friend and enjoyed the layouts but found very few N scale items. One vendor had some details at a decent price so my big purchase was two dumpsters, a portapotty, and a trash can. I staged them by this factory. The first photo shows a dumpster and the portapotty.

This one shows the other dumpster.

And this one shows the trash can.

Saw these barbed wire fence kits the other day on the auction site and at a fair price so I snapped them up even though I don't have a current need for them. I have used these before and really like them and they've been out of production for years.

    The Krokidil arrived finally.

There was some issues out of the box but I got it sorted. The front and rear boxes articulate relative to the cab using a clip which also keeps the worm gear in place and this clip had come apart from the rear truck gearbox allowing the drive system to come apart. So rear box/drive wasn't working on initial testing. Interestingly while apart the drives that go out from the cab section to the worm gears are also geared down from the motor like a 5:1 (didn't count teeth so not exact) meaning this thing is super low geared but top speed is still pretty quick although I'd never operate at more then a scale 40mph or thereabouts. I'm currently breaking it in running it around the track and so far so good.

The detail on this is quite good and with the little issue resolved I'm so far pretty happy with it. The one gripe but not a big deal is it is a little noisy. I suspect the added gearing has something to do with that. Good thing is with sound turned on it actually blends nicely with the decoder produced sound.

Nicely detailed pantographs and roof electrics.

Hi Thanks for the suggestion. No, I have not tried them. I have been around software for about 50 years (worked with the guys at Bell Labs that developed C language and UNIX), not very tolerant of software that requires a lot of effort to use... maybe just getting old:whistle:(y):D

Recently picked up these two passenger cars and the baggage car during the Christmas holiday season. The rapido passenger cars are new old stock. The batteries were a bit old with stuff on them. I went to Walmart to buy some same size batteries for them. The numbers on the batteries were not matching anything. I went to the rapido website and they said it was 1.5 volts and this is all I need to know. The wheels of time baggage car doesn’t have this feature.

    I almost forgot!

At the train show in Plano, TX last weekend, I picked up a nice, NIB, Scale Trains N scale Gunderson 5188 Covered Hopper, in KCS livery.

The show itself was fun, with many families with future model railroaders in tow!

N scale was fairly well represented, particularly in the sectional layouts.

I saw a vendor with Woodland Scenic's Built-&-Ready structures in O scale... Goodness, those things were huge, to an N scale modeler like me!!! I recognized the structures because many are identical to N scale versions I have or have seen, except in scale. Alas, I didn't see any of the ones I was looking for in N.

CIT Atlas SD60. I have no need for this locomotive, but it was too cheap to pass up on that online auction site.[IMG]

Nothing fancy, but I saw this at a recent train show and got it. It has an interesting backstory from a while back in Colorado. Seeing as I am in Reno, and in close proximity to Donner Summit....

The Good - I have 4 more Scale Trains locomotives on the way, SD40's my favorite locomotives, photos when they arrive!

The Bad - I have to send one of the Big Blows back, it has a bad speaker/decoder combination sort of thing, sounds like the speaker diaphragm is torn for some reason. I do not play that loudly.

The Ugly - JRMI takes forever to read in the decoder settings for the ESU Loksound decoders. It takes hours......

Not only that, but Scale Trains is entering the N Scale Tunnel Motor locomotive production. These can replace all the ones I lost from the frame rot Intermountain!

Do you have a DCC system that supports Railcom? It should read back a Railcom-equipped decoder (including ESU) much faster than the DCC programming track. Or a LokProgrammer, but I don't think JMRI works with it, only ESU software will.

Yes I have the ESU Cab Control system, but I also need the JMRI files for the sound decodered locomotives with the NTrak club, because they use Digitrax controllers. So it just seems more efficient to put them in both systems.

David there is a quick an easy way to do that. Setup the loco using the ESU programmer or if the decoder is already programmed - read the decoder to the esu loco file and then export the cv list (for example "5199 cv list.txt") Then go into JMRI and setup a new loco for the loco that you want in both places (I do this with both LokProgrammer and JMRI for every loco that I have) then in The loco that you just created in JMRI go up on the toolbar and select import Lok or ESU file. Go to the directory where you saved the "5199 cv list.txt", click on the file and in a matter of 5 seconds it will populate all of the ESU settings from the LOKProgrammer loco file. I'm not at my model railroad as I type so if anything doesn't make sense, I would be happy to assist further.
