Are these Wireless DCC worth it, what are the upside and downside of these DCC? Any help is appericated, thank you.
Assuming you're talking about wireless throttles....yes, they're worth it in my opinion. However...since I use the Lenz system...I use a cordless phone for wireless control. This is MUCH cheaper than other "real" wireless throttles. I hate dragging cords around...
It's one of the features of the Lenz system. You can read all about it here. Click on "XPA Xpressnet Phone Adaptor".
You can also use the XPA with the Atlas Commander system. I almost bought one but my mom wouldn't let me. She says' its "not necessary." But I would love to have one. Matt
The Lenz XPA is the way to fly. I have the Atlas system and have just about quit using the commander as a throttle. In fact I just purchased a second phone and I'm waiting on the XPA. You don't have to buy expensive either. Spent $17 on a 2.4 GHz Vtech phone. I try and get the ones with a display so I can see what is going on.
Just keep in mind that will only work with a DCC system manufactured by Lenz (Set 90, Set 100, Set 01, Set 02, Atlas Commander, etc).
I just installed the XPA on my system, BTW I think it will also work with NCE since they use the same "X BUS" as Lenz. How Neat! it took me about 3 min to memorize the buttons, after that I use my phone on my RR. for $57.00 + phone its a steal. Why spend $200.00 ++ when you can get the same features for less than $75.00, also you can use the memory dial feature of your phone to build a macro. and do all sorts of sophisticated tricks. I love it! Dante
