Yes it's Friday the 13th,yuk, what plans do we have this weekend? I'm working on transforming a hotwheels ice cream truck into an MofW vehicle, the one that looks like a small pickup with the flat front. low bed with tool compartments on the sides, hope it doesn't distort when I cut it up. Maybe build a few cars, too! Don't forget to run trains! - Have a great weekend! -
plans for this weekend : - finish decaling two gp38 to become cp rail units - start decaling another gp38 shell to replace an existing one in which i accidentally cut a hole - disassemble 3 more gp38 and prepare them for the paint job. hopefully finding the time to airbrush them also i plan to properly speed adjust a few more of my locos. this means taking a reference loco and programm others to match this references speed. easy but time consuming task using decoder pro, locobuffer and my digitrax chief 2. by now it should be obvious i'm one of the dcc quys.
I adding some recent pictures of the JJJ&E Railroad on a new site; Picturetrail.com They have a great format will many options for designing the individual site.
I'll begin construction on the HO scale River Valley & Western RR. Thanks to Coaltrain I have a viable trackplan. Now it's time to cut lumber!
prepare the layout for hurricane charlie. cover it with some sheets, plastic cover ontop that. tape the containers shut under the layout. strap the controller to the layout, wire tired the power cords up under the layout. not the ideal weekend project, hopefully something better during the week.
we made out ok, it didn't hit us like they were planning, it exited south of us in daytona, so lost power for about 11hours, some yard work to do, not major, thankfully.
I'm working on my Z Bend module this weekend. I received my Architrees off eBay this week, so I am planting trees. I am overall very happy with them. I could have built trees of this quality, but I could sell a couple kits for the price I paid. I figure I can use the 300 trees, and populate the mountains to look reasonably convincing. There are a couple funky topped ones, about 30 total, but they hide in the mix OK. I planted about 75 of them tonight after work last night, and will finish them off this weekend. There are some real tiny ones, of which I would like to have 1000 to make a real nice forced perspective tree line, but that is just not in the cards. I also continued working on the design of my roundhouse, having settled on a 7 stall model, with 5- 100' and 2- 120' stalls. For sake of quicker work, I'll make the sides wood, but design them such that I can invisibly all brick sides when I get around to buying a can of Bondo to make the more authentic brick sides I am after. I am also in the process of making a deal for a couple code 55 crossovers to cross the Microtrains Flex mainlines, and I'll do the code 40 handlaid behind the 2 mains. -Robert
