Thank you everyone for the compliments. Next up after I finish the other two cabooses on the workbench is to build the 200 ton crane for this puppy.
Tom Can't add anything not already posted. Nice worik! Thought maybe people would like to see what you encountered with the same car exactly as it came, and was assembled, out of the "Blue Box". Of course, yours was B&O and "brown" to start, not the Wabash blue. Great work. I keep looking and learning. George George
Very well done there Tom! I remember seeing one just like that out in Colorado back in the 1940's. It stuck in my mind because my Dad pointed out that they had mounted a caboose cab on one end of a flat car, and left the stake pockets in place under the caboose cab! There was a 200 ton wreck crane getting ready to make a run, and they were pushing this caboose tender car up under the boom to support the boom during the trip. That brought back some fond memories for me! Thanks Tom!
Nice model!! But I like the trees in the background, can you provide some info on them? Thanks Robert
Thanks again everyone for the kind words. I hope in a day I can post two more cabooses I have been working on. Robert Some information about the trees can be found at: Water Tower Diorama The trees are Woodland Scenics Realistic Tree Kit: 2 1/2" - 4" Pines: TR1104. I made them according the instructions on the back of the bag.
Tom, Nice looking caboose! I built one like it a few years ago for my CNW layout. I also built a Athearns 200 ton to go with it. They make a nice looking unit. One suggestion, Next time put some clear plastic behind the window openings to look like glass.
Tom, thanks for the info on the trees, I'll have to give them a try. Went to the dio thread, I enjoyed it very much, its great to watch raw materials become something of beauty, very nice. Robert
