Hey John(ATSF-AZ) DON'T EVER FEEL THAT WAY!! I for 1 look foward to your photo tours. Theres nothing wrong with your layout either. It looks better with a building or two.I want to take this time to thank you for the photo tours this year. It helped me forget my health problems for awhile. Doesn't LongTrain look like John from the depot in Harrington Pk., N.J.? Mr. Nolan, nice roundhouse
Only maybe on alignment vertically. I'm using different mounting and wiring systems and also different track (C55 this time). The turning mechanism (the same geared assembly) is mounted much more solidly, and the bridge should mount to that with some precision. It turns 0.4 RPM at 12 volts, and much more slowly at lower voltages. I haven't fiddled with it since I switched to DCC, nor permanently mounted the bridge. As I put decoders in more steam engines, I'll feel obligated to give them a home. It will probably be the end of February before I get to it.
Giovenni, I love that consist! The BSB is gorgous, with the early postmerger train.... John, Who makes the E6's? Straight gorgeous!
Hi, I'm back! Thanks to all for your positive feed back. HemiAdda2d, what does it mean "BSB"? Ciao, Giovanni
Big Sky Blue. GN's corporate 'new image' scheme post 1967. More weathering! Here's filthy, beat-up, rusty Cotton Belt Tunnel motor next to a similar DRGW unit: Here's a close up: And a pair of Rio Grande cabeese: Before and after:
While perusing TB, I have been quietly upgrading my Life Like PAs. Jason, note the addition of the Espee boards to replace the ATSF boards. Those are kato. Anyway, briefly...before: After Only 4-5 more to go. Three of those are the old Concor.
HemiAdda2d Great looking locomotives and cabosses! Flash Great looking PA's! I seem to have something special for Alcos.
Here are a few new ones from the Water Tower Diorama. Times are changing. The LNE 0-8-0 switcher is approaching the water tower as S-2 #616 approaches from the other direction. And another view of the action.
Flash, those PA look great! Are you using Gold Medal's brass detailing set? I have the GM kit for the wagon wheel antennas on my WP FTs. Nor correct, but close!
Tom: That is hands down the best looking module for photography! I am not sure why. Just a water stop along the right of way. It is credible; very credible. John: That is indeed GMM details. A Detail Associate five chime horn. Kato number boards. It would have been better to strip and repaint, but I just made the changes and touched it up. There was a plow, too, but I couln't get that done in the weekend time. BTW, the GMM set is specifically for the old Concor/Kato PA's. If you put a plow on them, the conversion to add the pilot to the shell is easier. I liked the fan. All pretty easy to do. [ 12. December 2004, 23:49: Message edited by: sapacif ]
Flash, very nice. /note to self Don't post pics of your PAs taken any closer than 3 feet. (and then make them a littlle blury)
RevnJeff sent an Augsburg and Concord boxcar to interchange with the Hoffman Valley RR last week. It seems that the A&C will be doing business with one of the businesses in town. Here, the boxcar is switched by an HVRR switcher: Russ
Colonel...I can do that. When I started modeling, I wanted a private road name. As things have developed, the popularity of PRN decreased to me as I became more interested in the history of a real railroad instead of creating a fictious history. Anyway, my PRN is the San Antonio Pacific and the Pacific Steer RR. Both logo designs were meant to be black herald Espee derivatives. You can see the similarity. I just pretend that these cars are leased or run nation wide as necessary. San Antonio Pacific (main road) Pacific Steer (lesser road) My friends at the Belmont Shore Club used to refer to my macho private road as the Smiley Face Line. No respect!! The logo is actually a drawing of the Alamo centered in the Espee logo. That is all the massive trauma of that story that I can relate tonight! More when I recover my dignity!
Hemiadd2, The Santa Fe E6s are stock LifeLike models, released about 2-3 years ago. Were released A-B sets, two different road numbers (number 12 and number 15). These can still be had from time to time on that auction site. (smile)
Yes, it is TB member Revnjeff's roadname. You can see his nice layout here: http://www.pegnsean.net/~revnjeff/ Happy railroading! Russ
Well, guys, after a long absence I hope to be back next weekend with some pics of the new shelving. So many guys build shelf layouts, right? So what do I know - to build a shelf layout you need shelves right? Logical next step: if you want more than a small shelf layout you need to build more than a few shelves, right? I am close to finishing over 70 lineal feet of scratch-built shelving. No obsessive-compulsiveness here at all, no siree! Joking aside, we bought a house in August that has insufficient storage space (e.g. no linen closet whatsoever), so part of the trade-off for full use of the (half-size) basement was provision of adequate storage. Which has now been provided - there are actually a few empty shelves now! Next step will be finalizing the actual track plan. I'm planning on having a two-in-one setup: a double track mainline for two longish trains to circulate and show off, with an industrial area switching layout where the work gets done. As noted in another thread, keeping the radius above 22" is a challenge, but I think we'll end up pulling it off. Anyway, pics next weekend...
