Alan, I am American, and still I don't understand half the population so.. Thats saying something... HA! So don't feel bad!
First to Dane; Congratulations, you have just emasculated one of the great nursery rhymes of the english culture. It was very well done, may I copy it and spread it about the net? Next to Mopartex; As one of the 'old gents' here, I am far from politicaly correct [I can't even spell it]. Realize this; the Congress of the United States, that passed all those PC laws, still refer to female congressmen as just that "Congressman". They do have a gender non specific name it's called "Member". It is only the left wing, liberal, bed wetting, commie press corps that refer to female members of congress as 'congresswoman'. I am also a member of an ethnic minority, if you can't guess which one, my cousin Pasquale will break your knees, and I do resent an ethnic slur when meant as such. But if the term is not meant in a derogatory manner, fagetaboutit!
So this is what Dane has been doing when he was suppose to be studying...lol. By the way Rob, I spend much time in Louisville Kentucky way back when in the late 60's and in New Albany Indiana (across the river).
Alan, dont feel like the lone stranger, neither do I sometimes. With all the garbage(kant cuss)that happens around the nation. But one thing we all can do is come to the board and discuss the one thing we all have in common, and that is trains(and our love of them).Shoot(no pun intended) I'd love for all of us to have a gettogether sometime where we could meet and talk trains and have a good ole time.OH HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!!!!y,all rrman48 RUSTYB FRISCO4EVER

Oh, by the way, if I can get my stupid scanner in work again,I'll post some pictures of my mother-in law with her father at harrahan yard in New Orleans, from about 1909-1920, he worked for ICG have some great shots of some of the old ice reefers that I.C.G. Dispatch used... RustyB.
Rusty my wife and I have been to New Orleans but stayed in "the slave quarters" area, now privately owned by the owner of her company. I especially liked riding the old street cars! I grew up with street cars in Wichita, Kansas. Do a lube job on your scanner, or give it a dose of cod liver oil, we want to see the photos from 1909 etc.
I used to take those old street cars back in the '60's I seem to remember one called Rampart??? is that correct?
After 1951, there were only two streetcar lines left in New Orleans, the Canal Street line and the St. Charles Avenue line. The St. Charles Avenue is the only one continuously operating - since the 1830's (Originally the New Orleans & Carollton RR - steam operated). There is now a Riverside line, operating on former New Orleans Public Belt RR tracks, recently regauged to 5 ft. 2.5 in. (yes New Orleans streetcars operated on Pennsylvania Broad Gauge). I lived in New Orleans 1958-1964 and 1967-1973, originally at Tulane University and then working for the PRR and PC.
