What are most of you using for masking?

I tried Micro Mask but have a very difficult time in removing the mask I don't want on the model or does some one have an easier way of doing it than they suggest - lift with an xacto Knife or tape which certainly doesn't work.

Jim, I'm moving this into the Inspection Pit as the Yellow Pages is a for sale/wanted forum.

I use Micro Mask as well and generally lift it using the tip if a cutting knife (personally, I use an OLFA designers knife) VERY carefully to get it started then slowly pull it off with a pair of tweezers.
I find careful application of it to prevent it getting into difficult to remove situation, like under a rotary beacon, works best.

Otherwise, for genaral masking I use Tamiya masking tape trimmed to suit. Others use 3M and other brands. Some recommend using a glass plate for cutting the masking tape as it leaves some of the adhesive behind when removed from the glass making it easier to get off the model after painting.

Hope this is what you are after.

Tamiya tape? As in the same Tamiya that makes the acrylic paints?

I use drafting tape or blue painters tape neither will leave residue as long as it's not left on for a long time[ weeks ] . Cut it on clean glass with sharp blade and you'll get crisp edges. As with any tape never stretch it as it distorts

Another good item to use is Bare Metal foil, its really thin and contours to anything. As with all tapes remove it as soon as possible.

Yes, Flash, made by the same company. It comes in an enclosed dispenser like sticky tape, and without as a refill, and is available in 6mm, 10mm and 18mm widths.

I find it's much finer and flexible than the usual tapes with less tack in the adhesive. I use the Tamiya for the fine work and normal masking tape for filling in where it's not easy to use paper.
