The artists conception always looks............... wrong, not that the loco is attactive, kind of a cross between a P42 and a ALP44

    Hey,
The guy that designed the P42 is same guy that did this engine. When I see it, I think of an E-8 & an Alp 46.

Actually the cab control desk configuration is based closely on the ALP-46 control desk. Unfortunately, the corner collision posts are also similar to the ALP-46 and block out all views that are not either directly ahead or to the extreme right of the engineer.

With the way the windshields are set up and the nose sticking out in front you lose sight of a 6'2" man eighteen feet ahead of the engine. This requires the engineer to be extremely careful when approaching switches, derails, and dwarf signals.

There are other engineer issues to be resolved (or ignored) but basically this a a large computer in a box powered by a large motor on wheels.

Mike, Scott and all those who really, REALLY care about the Lackwanna Terminal Railway:

Since the Lackawanna Terminal Railway is always looking for new ways to profit from other's needs the Lackawanna Terminal Management Team looked into the prospect of running commuter service in New Jersey under the auspices (and subsidy) of NJ Transit. As we delved further and further into the the labyrinth that is NJ Transit's fiduciary dealings it became quite apparent, quite quickley, that there would be no money to be made in this endevour as all the moneys given to NJ Transity by Bi-state, State, and Federal Governments would be wasted by Corporate mismanagement leaving nothing left to "subsidize" our project regardless of what we consider to be the Lackawanna Terminal Management Team's altruistic motivation.

We, The Lackawanna Terminal Managent Team, thus considers the purchase of commuter motive power, especially that constructed by Alstom to be an unworthy expenditure of already scarce corporate funds, funds that could be better dedicated to the annual Lackawanna Terminal Industries management only Christmas Party held every year in Suva, the capital city of the Fiji Islands.

We thank you for your interest in the Lackawanna Terminal Railway and we hope this answers your concerns relative to our foray into commuter service and its impending financial disaster.

    Regards,
    The Lackawanna Terminal Management Team
