Wow! Now that is some great modeling!

I really enjoyed seeing the model develop. I can't wait to see what is next.

Thank you all. I don't know how long it will be before I can add the rest of the scenery. Besides being really short on time, I ran out of Super Trees and I have to order some more so I can continue along.

Coal train I've been on the sidelines for quite a while on this forum but seeing your project has prompted me to make a response. I think your project original or not has been one of the best things I've seen scratchbuilt in a long time. I'll be watching like many others for the final results. Pat

Wow, thanks Belg. I have enjoyed sharing it with all of you on Trainboard. I have tried to make progress every week so I would have something to show each week. Doing that has helped me stay focused and the progress has been slow but steady.

Today I am off to the hobby shop to get some scenery material that I ran out of and I am placing another order to Scenic Express for some more Super Trees so I can finish the scenery around the loader.

While I am waiting for the scenery stuff to come in I will scratch build the scale house and try to find some older dump trucks.

    Happer Easter everyone.

This week I did more basic ground cover while I wait for the Super Trees order from Scenic Express. I also started to build the scale house which I will post pictures of in a day or two. I started to modify some dump trucks to add to the scene.

Here is where I am at so far.

Here is the Scale house (shack). I decided to try something different (for me) and frame the building board by board. This is the closest structure and it is right at eye level when you walk into the layout room. I will have the door open so you should get a good view of the stud framing. The scale is from a WS Ottis Coal Co. kit.

Coaltrain: You may get a better camera, but I am not sure you will get better pictures. These look very good to me.

Jeff I'm wondering what is the product that you used for the ground cover it looks like some sort of netting? Poly fiber maybe?Pat

Yes, the bushy looking stuff is WS polly fiber that I spray with Matte Medium and then sprinkle on WS ground foam.

I've got my tree order and I will get busy finishing this project. I am still trying to figure out what kind of details I should add inside the scale house and I have a little dump truck that I am fixing up the details on. I should have more photos soon.

I've been busy with work, church, and spring yard work. Also, I put a DVD burner in my computer and I have been trying to convert my old 8mm videos to DVD. I'm not sure where I am going wrong but the DVDs won't play back in my DVD player.

I did get my tree order in and as I am typing this I am headed down to the layout room with finished trees in hand to "plant" around the loaded. I will start to put siding on the scale house today also.

I should post some more photos later today.

    Thanks for the interest.

Ok, here is where I am at after today, trees are in and the ground cover is finished as far as I can tell. I did not get the siding on the scale house. I will try to get that finished this week, then that should be it for this project, aside from a few detail, like getting that dump truck to look like it is dumping.

That looks real nice Jeff, finishes off the area very nicely. When totally complete that would make a great mini scene in itself, especially with that detail.

    Cheers

Jeff excellent scene and the scenery around it really makes it pop. The platform next to the chute is so that the chute be raised and lowered with the crank right so dont you think you should give the little people a ladder to get to that? [IMG] I don't know if its just the photo or is the rail in the second picture slightly kinked? The last reload must have been a little to rough! :D I know that you said you needed a better camera but your pictures are much clearer and crisper than anything mine takes, what brand and model is it?Thanks Pat

Your right, there needs to be a ladder to reach that platorm. I have to make a trip to the LHS to get the right size wood to make it.

The rail was kinked to look like the end of every 39' rail section was sinking into the mud. I think the camera angle make the kinks look worse than they really are. I don't have trouble pushing cars into the siding.

I can't remember the make of the camera. It is my work camera. I will have to take a look and let you know later.

I am almost done with the scale house an by the weekend I should have it completed, and photos of it. I am going to pick up some figures to finish the scene.

Thanks for the kind words and your interest.
