Well, it seems the wife may have a soft spot after all ;) !! In casual converation the other day, she mentioned that I might want to move the railroad to the basement! After a year of freezing or boiling in an uninsulated, poorly lit garage, I about fell over! The only draw back is that it is less space, but man being warm/cool, well lit and relatively dust free sounds like a dream come true :D :D :D ! Happy Modeling!

Hug her neck and tell her how wonderful she is! Then GO FOR IT!!! The basement is always better! :D

You owe her BIG time for this one!!!

Enjoy your new space, and make sure you properly thank her for it in every way possible. Isn't everyday a man gets to play in his own basement!

Glad to hear you got a warm place to work. My wife encouraged me to get back in the hobby over a year ago and recently gave me _another_ 16'x14' "easement" in our basement. Then while picking up a few sheets of Styrofoam, she started picking out the 1x4s and 2x4s to expand the benchwork! She recently visited a nearby layout that we operate and soon was running the eastbound passenger train for a full operating session! How much better can it get after 31 years?? She's a keeper!

My wife got tired of hearing my complaining about my present N layout so she suggested I tear it down and build a new one around the wall witch will more then tripple the size. :D

Congrat's...hurry before she changes her mind...he he : ) I too had worked on my n-scale several times in the attic space, and would always get tired of getting hot and cold, and therefore never got very far on the layout. Although a small L-shape 30"x72 and 30"x78 put together in a corner of the office. It beats the heck out of the cold and hot attic. Now I can work on it year round, when in the mood : ) My wife mentioned changing the golf curtains she had made me years ago for the office to trains. Man am I lucky too!

And a lucky man ye are, John!

My local Bureau of Land Management wanted the RR space shrunk. Any other time, it would be a tragedy, but she suggested that I go to N scale. So, I took down the HO, and have an N scale layout
in less space (but more operational capabilities).
I'm in the process of planning an extension that'll fit into the rest of the existing space (one end of our bedroom) AND give me more layout to run! [IMG]
I have my layout in Layout Depot, and as soon as I can, I'll post another proposed trackplan that'll fit a 5 foot by 10-foot space, with a folded dogbone, hidden staging, and lots of indus-
    trial switching.

Just remember, it is easier to beg forgiveness than to get permission. Within reason, of couse.
