Hi peeps I am looking for either a kit or plans for a Coaling Tower (HO) with a coal delivery track right under the tower. Coal to the loco's would be from either the right or left hand sides. Any in plan form in mags would be great also, I'll just buy the mag in question. That would give me an opportunity for a bit of scratchbuilding! Thanks Bruce [ 02. You may want to check out this post right here in the HO Scale Forum. I know it is not a coal loader but it sure would look nice on a layout. My new project, coal loader Posted By Coaltrain: 3-18-04 Eric
Thanks Eric I definately wouldn't mind one of those, Jeff's work is outstanding.. But this is for my engine terminal. It is a tight fit with a coaling tower, ash conveyor and pit and a turntable. That's why I need a tower with delivery track underneath. Cheers Bruce
I found a picture of one (I think). Now I just have to find out more info on the RR http://www.michiganrailroads.com/RRHX/CoalFacilities/MCRRWenonaYardMI.htm
Now that i know what you are looking for I am 99% sure model power makes almost an exact duplicate of that coal tower!!! You might want to check out their website. I also beleive that atlas makes one. Eric
Hmmm....didn't find any at either of them but I may have found one. This looks like it fits the bill.... http://walthers.com/exec/productinfo/288-4001 and seems to be available from www.enginetender.com.
Grrrrr...the one above is not quite right. I have found a ton of magazines (Trains.com Magazine index) that had coaling tower scratchbuilding articles in them but you can't see inside the mag to see what they look like. Generally frustrating I can tell you!
Thanks Jeff I'll get the dates together and post them. Cheers Bruce Oh, I found a tower that might work....but it is a Fine Scale Miniatures one.....currently going for $180.00! I think not
Ok here are some dates I found. If anyone has any of these and the coaling towers either look like what I am after or could be built that way, could you please let me know which ones. I can then go and find where to get the mags from. Thanks in advance. Here goes.... I found a shot of the exact style tower I am looking for. It is on Dick Elwell's Hoosac Valley RR: http://www.horailroad.com/hv/t6.html Would anyone know how I would contact Dick to ask him where it came from? Cheers Bruce
Me again! I bought some old MRR's on ebay, various issues from 1948 thru about 1956. One year had a coaling tower scratchbuilding article (by Eric Stevens) that spanned October 1951 thru January 1952. I have all the 1951 issues (October, November, December) and was wondering if anyone has a copy of the January 1952 issue. If so, would there be any chance of someone emailing me a copy of the last part of the coaling tower article. I would really like to build this one, modified for my situation. Thanks in advance Bruce
