Not sure how much I will get done on modeling this weekend. We begin the decorating of the house for Christmas today and it usually takes a week to finish. II may get some time to work on the new diorama with my son. We still have not come up with a name for it. I may also do some work on the Passenger Station Diorama.
I need to rebuild the siding to the new Moore and Son's kit I built last weekend. I want to stop by the Hobby Store and pick up stuff, but maybe I can save money and just stop everything for a month until Santa arrives.
I'm continuing to work on the turntable/engine facility module. Some of the storage tracks have been wired. I started to weather the storage tracks this morning. Some of the ballasting around the turntable has been started. Stay cool and run steam....
I know how the money thing feels. But at some point you just have to ask yourself - which is more important; christmas or trains? Friday night, helped a co-worker survive her 21'st birthday; followed by the unveiling ceremony for a 12-odd foot tall statue of "Riff-Raff"; to commemmorate the fact that The Rocky Horror Picture Show was written in Hamilton. Saturday: I've just heard my nqsLHS has my decoder order in; so I'm going to go RoadTrip and pick them up. Tonight I'll install them and test them on my cool test oval. It should be bigger than my entire locomotive fleet - unless I buy more locomotives. That will leave me with just a LifeLike GP38 and a Bachmann GP50 approximation on DC; and I question the value of putting a $35USD decoder in the later - a $30USD engine. Sunday I should take to all the things that need doing - lawns need mowing, room arrangement needs tweaking (to fit more layout in - when I build it)... Oh, and dreaming up a bigger oval than my test track... from 4'x2.5' to around-the-walls 14'x14'.
IM BACK! hope yall didnt miss me too much, been a long semester. this weekend, i have finally gotten a chance to run my trains. my track is DIRTY! anyone have recommendations for cleaning the track and wheels of cars/locomotives? starting in two weeks i'll be starting real scenery, ie: mountains/rock castings/etc. so anyone in the Raleigh, NC area willing to lend a hand let me know! i'll be needed some experienced guides so as not to make a HUGE mess or things. another recommendation to those of you who can, run some trains if you havent in a while, even just watch them go, its kinda nice to watch from time to time. later kids, -Rob
Anything would be nice... but cleaning up from out TurkeyDay festivities is still on-going at this point, so guessing I won't get much, if anything done.
Greetings all Hopefully, the following is on the list... 1) Lay the track for the new industry yard area I have got to. 2) Build the shell of Glacier Gravel kit to make sure it all fits where it is supposed to. 3) Wire the turnouts for 1) above back into the CTI control system and program the CTI system to operate them. 4) Think about the code needed and sensors required to make the new NJ International flashing crossbucks work at the crossing 5) Replace the Atlas supplied decoder in a trainmaster with a DN163A0. What's the odds that none of the above actually get done Regards
