I'll be traveling in Nova Scotia next week. Does anyone know of any hobby shops in the area? I'll be working in New Glasgow, going through Truro from Halifax. Thanks.
I've seen hobby shops in Halifax and Dartmouth so check the phone book when you get there. Truro is a fairly small town. I've spent the night there. Charlie
Actually, yes. I believe VIA originates a train out of Halifax. I work for Michelin Tire Co. and we get all of our carbon black and most of our raw materials via rail. I've been up there several times, but have never seen an actual engine with cars attached. Of course, having only been there in Dec., Jan. and Feb. up until this trip, I've never seen leaves on trees either. Chris
Here's a couple I found; the first looks to be about 15 miles or so off the hiway between Truro and Halifax. I've not been to any of them, so I can't vouch for them in any way Parnellrail 10084 Hwy 1, Arcadia, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia, B0W 1B0 Phone: 902-742-4029 Fax: 902-742-4223 E-mail: parnell@klis.com Web Site: http://monsoon.klis.com/rail/ Maritime Hobbies & Crafts Ltd. 1521 Grafton Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia, B3J 2B9 Phone: 902-423-8870 Fax: 902-423-8870 Uneeda Hobby 43 Inglis Place, Truro, Nova Scotia, B2N 4A5 Phone: 902-895-0308 Fax: 902-895-0308 Another I "know of" is in a place called Coldbrook, near Kentville; called "A One Track Mind Hobbies" run by Brent Norton. his e-mail is aonetrackmindhobbies@ns.sympatico.ca. There are still trains in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick - none in PEI (my second favorite place and ultimate place to vacation). Nova Scotia is fun too and here's the best way to get there! Charlie [ 13 May 2002, 20:13: Message edited by: E-8 ]
