Picked up an old McKean PS1 boxcar this weekend and I'm in the process of building it and there are some parts on the parts tree that I can not figure out what they are. Anyone built any of these? I know that they are now Accurail, but there web site does not help. The two parts in question look like this, about two inches long, thin like a square tooth pick, one end has a square shape with a slot. Not much to go on I know.. Anyone? Thanks Robert
WOW, no one here ever built any.. thats pretty wild. Guess I'll just put the unkown parts in the junk box... got the car built, still don't see where they might go.. Later Robert
Robert, I sure don't know what it is. Sounds like part of a mechanical rig for turning something, like part of the brake system. Is is HO? You might post there. You could go to the historical society for the road you are modeling. They count a lot of rivets there and many of them are modelers, too. Ask the manufacturer. Are there no instructions? If you say the specific car type, someone here or on the internet may have a copy of the instructions. Can you post a picture? Also, there might be a Yahoo list for those type of models or prototype. Sorry I cannot be of more help. [ March 01, 2005, 09:38 AM: Message edited by: sapacif ]
I have never put one of those kits together Robert .. but could it be the link from the hand brake to the fulcrum?
Not really sure what it is, but one things for sure, I can not find anything that looks like it on any other boxcar I have. The box is a PS1 40'. The instruction sheet is not much, only shows where to install the grabs and ladders, and how to assemble the trucks. I'll see if I can get a decent picture and post it.. Thanks Robert
