Russ (RUSH2NY) and I have worked for months getting together a safety site related to both modeling and real railroading. Please take a look at it! Please submit articles, stories, photos, or just sign our guestbook or give a thought in our forum. We are looking for more information pertaining to modeling safety. Hope you can help us out! Be sure to check out the photo section. http://rush2ny.100megsfree5.com/mrrtsb.html
We also have added a Safety Forum that you can discuss accident prevention, modeling mishaps and general safety advice on. Come give it a look! Happy railroading! Russ
I think we have a one of a kind site. Thanks to Russ for all his hard work creating the site, doing the posting of photos, and keeping the site running. We need to grow with some help from our visitors!
Obviously, this forklift operator wasn't an avid reader of our safety site! http://www.1-87vehicles.org/photo188/diorama_industrial_accident.php
Peirce, Thank-you for the kind words! JT, A lot of HO scale sized lawsuits can be prevented by simply reading through some of the information on the site! Russ
In a scene like that, would an O scale person feel just as much pain and suffering as an HO scale person? How do you figure out what an O scale worker, or N scale worker would make in a lifetime as opposed to an HO scale worker? That would determine the amount of money awarded a scale wage worker. LOL! LOL! LOL!
Whattya Know! If I had read the stuff in that I might still have me Big toes toenail. I dropped 60 lbs. (7ft.x2ft.) of 3/4" plywood on to my foot this past Saturday.Just about shot everything out the end of it. EWWWW!!!! Irony of it is... Everyone's been saying my motorcycle will hurt me. Where as, so far, the must damage I've had is from my "safe" hobby of Model Railroading.
Sorry to hear about the foot, Ken. Home hobbyist mishaps are one of the most common causes of emergency room visits every year. You should see me when it comes around to home repair! (ever hear of Tim Allen's Home Improvement?) LOL Seriously though, thank-you for visiting the site. I hope that it teaches a bit as well as inspires and entertains! Russ
Russ I have 4 photos on my RailImages of a boom truck laying on its side because the operator forgot to straihten and secure the boom before he lifted the outriggers. You are welcome to use them on your site. In this case no one was injured but there were a few red faces.
Thanks Gil! I shall use them. If you wish, I can add a link to your album or to a site. Happy railroading! Russ
good site. info. like that needs to be spread far and wide. maybe a link to operation life saver for an addition???
Thanks for the compliment. We hope to get more ideas about safety in the modeling world too. Please submit any ideas you come up with! How about ideas on ventilation, lighting, etc.
Hi guys, There is an interesting discussion about wiring in your train room, going on right now at Atlas: http://forum.atlasrr.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=42070 Some good suggestions about why the building code is in place.... Seems to fit with your theme of safety, although not directly related to the hobby itself (like paint thinner, glues, etc). Andrew
Just wanted to let all know that I will be continuing on with JT's site. It may be a while before I get it updated though as he was the "boss" and number one contributor. My friend may now be gone but his ideas are still alive. Russ
