Getting a late start with this today due to the fact that my weekend has a n extra day in it because of Presidents’ Day. I worked on the cap for the abutment on the Passenger Station Diorama. I also finished weathering the LNE billboard boxcar. I received an AD&N boxcar in the mail from fellow forum member Tad which I also weathered. I weathered the wheels and trucks on two IHC 2-6-0 camelbacks. I also removed the lettering from one of them.
I continued to work on my switching addition to the JJJ&E. I also reweathered some track and weathered two of the nine bridges on the JJJ&E using washes of mineral red which simulates rust quite well. Stay cool and run steam.....
We have roadbed and flex-track, But Im just not up to working on anything with Hunter S Thompson dead.
My regular day off so managed to add some more to the new layout design. Visit the LHS folks and left with some more American Limited Diaphragms and I finally broke down and bought one of the troop kitchen cars by MT. I know this will be sacriledge but the WM lettering is going, the roof is getting a silver paint job along with the ends, keeping the oxide red sides, and SP&S M of W lettering is going on. Time to add another kitchen car to feed the M of W crews out on the line. Started cutting down The Walthers Ice House Kit to a smaller building removing 43 feet from its length. Platforms will be shortened to two cars only. Comes close to matching the structure in the latest Rail Model Journal. And still haven't done anything on the small shop complex and water tower as another weekend goes by.
Let's see Fri- Finished the P2K tank car, tedious but worth it, now I have some tricks for the other three. Ran trains, had to make sure the tank ran ok, plus had to retweak them FA's, started acting up. Sat- Made it to the LHS for wheels and couplers, of course I couldn't leave with just that, picked up and Athearn SW7 for rebuild into an NW2 & an F7 to power one more of the FA's, also a Red Caboose flat which I built Sat & Red Caboose tank. Ran trains. Sun- rewheeled an original Stewart U25B and am still in the process of tweaking the old Athearn drive, it needs a new motor I'm sure. Did I mention run trains! Hope everyone had a great weekend ! -
I finished my mountain. I attached rock face to existing foamboard for areas sloping away from the aforesaid mountain. I changed to MT couplers on LL FA-1 and FA2 units. I marvelled at watching my Kato PA & PB go around the top level of my layout with derailing once. I lubed and tightened screws on two Bachmann Consolidations.
I made progress on my locomotives, cabooses, and a passenger car, but I didn't get any of them finished.
Worked on rock carving/painting in the blast thru areas - you can see the process HERE and here is a sample where I'm at currently Other updates are HERE for the town and HERE for the abandoned coal mine [ February 22, 2005, 11:46 AM: Message edited by: nscale_lover ]
I got a pretty good start on an undecorated N scale snoot I'm decorating in the UP United Way scheme. I even managed to get some work done on my little diorama to use for taking photos.
I know its a little late, but I got an MDC roundhouse 4-4-2 Union pacific kit done. Just a few more details to go.
Helped redo wiring on the club layout, including adding some SPDT switches to allow a single power pack to control two yards. Ran a coal train to ID bad order hoppers (TrainWorx kits) and found way too many, mainly due to axles dragging against coupler boxes (body mount in N scale is a pain, but worth it when things work)
Finally finished re-painting all my Micro-trains 100 ton coal hoppers plus 2 Atlas 90 tons. All the rolling stock and locos on this train have been re-painted.
Did some work on my street. First pic shows some styrene "shuttering" ready for pouring/spreading filler.
The "shuttering has been removed. Next I will lay the sidewalks, then the parking shoulder. The road will be scraped/sanded and filled to get a relatively smooth surface. (May leave a few potholes) When all is done I will try to paint it realistically!
