I have read that several AC4400s were delivered in primer paint and one customer wants us to arrange a custom paint job in primer orange for the AC4400s(?) Is there a website or documentation of the AC4400 units that were delivered and placed in service in primer colors and what primer colors where used? Also documentation of the lettering applied while still in primer? Also, were any SD70MACs delivered in primer?
I don't know about any AC4400s, but my 1997-98 BNSF motive power roster lists a number of Dash-9s delivered only partially finished. They had their orange and green, but no reflective yellow anywhere. The numbering under the cab was in basic block letters. These were then finished off by BNSF as time allowed. [ 05. We are seeing BNSF AC4400's in primer through then NS yard in Decatur. If you find pics of the dash9'2 they look the same .Primer Grey with Silver trucks and fuel tanks. The next stop for the engines is the paint shop. They are dead in tow.Just saw 4 more of them last night.
http://gelwood.railfan.net/bnsf/bnsf4845aek.jpg I found this pic on Fallen Flags of one of the mentioned units but not any in primer yet but imagine will pop up soon theyre ...... Dave =)
I read somewhere where somebody spotted 5011 & 5016 in primer in Kansas City ,which seems kind of fun as I have pictures of them painted coming in from the south at the 31st yard in Denver and they were all deck out in the H2 scheme (clean & shiny)
thnx for the welcome and off note here checked out your pics and very ingeniuss idea for the MT RUSHMORE modeling scene........... Dave =)
I haven't read any of AC4400CW's are coming in primer colors yet. The only ones I am aware that were delieved in primer were the dash 9's. If they were AC they will numbered in the 5600 and the 5700 series that includes the evo series too. Even if they were were being delievered in there primer colors they had to have numberboards in them cause they have away to keep track of the units movements. Check the numbers on them.
Haven't heard of any primered AC4400's. There were primered C44-9W's, and the "base paint no stripes" mentioned above. There were also at least a couple primered 70MAC's, I have a pic somewhere of one in one of the motive power annual books.
