Holla! I was wondering what your favourite part about CP is? For me there is alot of things, so I will list them 1) There past, they were one nice looking RR, and even today you can see signs of that! 2) I can't get over the scenery we have on CPR out west 3) There motive power!!!!!!! Have a good day, ------------------ //BC Rail King
Lately, has to be the motive power situation, some dont like the new logo, but then again, we have the F units in the "original" Maroon and Grey, action red multimark, no multimark, CPRS dual flags. Then the extreme variants the metioned E&N repaint, Guilford, ex-UP, ex NS, who needs skittles, CPR has a pretty good rainbow going itself ------------------ J.E. My first contact with North American railroads was in Toronto in 1985. An enduring memory was watching an Alco S2 switcher stopping all the traffic near Spadina Bridge, pushing a cut of boxcars diagonally across the intersection into a small CP yard. Later, another S2 sped past on the main towards the Union station with a caboose - great! ------------------ Alan http://www.ac-models.com http://Andersley.homestead.com http://galleryusarail_tehcaj.homestead.com
LOL, only time I ever saw an S2 it wasn't speeding, I was lucky if it was at 5MPH! LOL ------------------ Have a good day, //BC Rail King
Speaking of the Alcos Still have vague hauntings of them here in my area, the local museum has RSD17 8921 in the collection, and trains 741/742 have a former RS18 or C424 as a cab control car ------------------ J.E. Pindar Webmaster-Canadian Pacific Railway Resources http://cpr.railfan.net
My "favourite part about the CP is" THE SOO !!! (and the red & whites still running around) they're SOO-PER ! ------------------ ship SOO!
the SOO owned 8500 series AC4000CW's painted in the beaver sorry, I just had to say that ------------------ J.E. Pindar Webmaster-Canadian Pacific Railway Resources http://cpr.railfan.net
My favourite thing about the CP was the 'multimark' paint scheme, with the red/white stripes on the ends. The new scheme is rather boring to my eyes! ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com http://Andersley.homestead.com http://galleryusarail_tehcaj.homestead.com http://eurogallery.homestead.com
Really Alan, I thought the Multi Mark was an eye sore! Made Canada look bad, now all we have to fix is the ugly ugly ugly new BCR scheme! Dane N.
My favorite thing of CP is something I only seen twice...the SL&H locos. I say this because it's new and I rarely seen them except on pic sites. Another thing would have to be the now abandoned Cornwall Subdivision, plainly because, even though I'm not suppose to, I drive my bicycle over it and it's much clearer than the old NYC abandoned line.
Sorry, Dane about the multi-mark, I did like the smaller one best I agree with you about the gaudy BCR scheme. Why ever did they have to change from that lovely two-tone green. Dane - don't you have any influence with BCR? ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com http://Andersley.homestead.com http://galleryusarail_tehcaj.homestead.com http://eurogallery.homestead.com
LOL, I did get them to put "British" back on one of the Royal Hudson cars! Dane N. ------------------ TAMR2860-AKA BC Rail King TAMR2860@hotmail.com
I am totaly awed by seeing the CP trains moving through the Spiral tunnels between Lake Loise and Field. There is no sound like it with five locos grinding there way up the grade. It is possible to park just off the highway and trains can be viewed passing through the lower spiral. Trains come out of the upper tunnel and cross over the back of the train still entering the lower portal. What a sight. We camp overnight at Lake Louise and the campground is close to the track. There is a level crossing requiring a whistle. What a sound as the echos bounce across the valley. You can tell this is one of my favourite holiday trips. I get to do this about every two years.
My favorite thing about CPR is its attitude. A couple of years ago one of the US roads had a railfan arrested for reporting a defect (smoke) that he thought presented a hazard. At about the same time the CPR presented an award to a fan who reported smoke emanating from a freight as it passed through Banff. It turned out to be a journal that was almost burned through.
Arrested!!!! Geez, that was dumb! Dane N. ------------------ TAMR2860-AKA BC Rail King TAMR2860@hotmail.com
My favorite thing about the CP is the Chateau Frontnac hotel in Quebec City. ------------------ When in doubt, empty your magazine.
Jasper Park lodge is better! LOL I haven't even heard of the one you like, the Hotel Vancouver can suck my ********* ***** stupid ***** CP what the **** were they thinking, it is horrbale. Dane N. A happy CPR costumer.
