Hi Everyone, May 20th, 01 19;45 Hrs. MDT. I have been Hearing Reports that C.P. is Down to Very Few SD 40-2s. How Many I don't know. I find it say "Interesting" as I work in Calgary as a Courier in the Downtown Areas so I have Full View of C.P.'s Main Line West, and I still see a fair Amount of SD 40-2s Still Running. 5 Came in on a East Bound Train this Morning. If Anyone Knows something I don't I'd sure like to Hear About IT.Comments Anyone. Have a Great Week Railfanning Your Favourite C.P. Rail Site. I don't know the numbers but both CP and The Soo Line were really big on the SD40-2s and have / had huge fleets (At the end of The Soo Line days I think about half the fleet was SD40-2s. Anyway - I know CP has been selling off heaps of 'em in recent months but I am sure there are still heaps on the system. As recently as 1999 CP actually purchased SD40-2s (about 10 ex SOO units when the lease was up, CP purchased them) SD40-2 days are numbered - but they will continue to serve the CP for many years to come.

One of my favourate sites. Here is another one of my favourite sites, and it is devoted to SD40-2's and some other CP SD power. A recent addition is a Tribute to CP's SD40's (not SD40-2, just 40)Manny Jacob's SD40-2 Site Enjoy. Daniel D Daniel D
Yet another great site I had never seen (I really need to get out more often ) It doesn't have much to do with CP but here is a good sd40 site at http://www.sd40.com
Are any of you CP modelers familiar with "Miniatures by Eric"? The more I have been looking at these Canadian built SD40s and SD40-2s the more I notice how different they are from the American counterparts. In particular the steps and pilots. I have found listings of CP and CN detail parts from Miniatures by Eric but I can't find pictures of what the parts look like on the web - so I can't be sure which parts are appropriate for which models. Can anyone recommend a good source of info on super detailing one of these CP SD40-2s? Does Miniatures by Eric have a catalog with pretty pictures? If so, where can I get one?
Rob, BC Railking works at a model railroad store. He and I (volunteered) on their inventory. They sell a lot of Minitures by Eric stuff. Try their web site, it is possible they might have some pictures there www.central-hobbies.com You can also address your questions to Bill about anything Canadian and he will be able to answer for you. He is a rivet counter extordinaire. SEnd you questions to Bill at this store and say Rick and Dane Nicholson recommended you talk to him.
